Smarter play would be to do a little masse, contacting the 8 enough to send it to the rail where the 9 is and leave cb near upperR) pocket, hope for on the rail, but you are leaving a bank or a safe.
Then point your stick about at the nine ball (or a little fuller on the 8) and use right english. Hit it hard enough to bank the 8 2 rails to the middle of the right end rail. I think that will leave the cue ball near the middle of the other end rail.They are frozen.
...snip...A simpler shot is to play the cue ball to the left end rail and try to hide behind the 9, having moved the 8 to near the cushion.
You're playing 9 ball. This happened on a barbox, but for this shot, it really doesn't matter what size table. You(me) have overrun position on the 8, and got stuck to it. What would you do here?
