Wheat Cues - if you ordered one

Last year I visited Eddie Wheat's shop with Remy. Eddie made a good impression upon both of us that day. Remy ordered a cue from Eddie, I wrote a review of my visit to Eddie's shop.

As a result of my review, some of you ordered cues from Eddie Wheat. Here we are several months later, and a lot of people have not received the cues that they have ordered. A lot of people have no communication with Eddie, and they are upset.

I realize that people are frustrated with this situation. I realize that when you order a product from somebody, you expect that the product will be delivered as promised.

Since these problems become public, I have personally gone to Eddie's home to speak with him about these issues. Eddie assured me that he would complete the orders as soon as possible. That was back in December. I have not spoken to Eddie since then.

I feel terrible that this situation has turned out like this. I went to Eddie's home last May to check out his shop and I gave an honest review of what I saw that day. I did not look into my crystal ball and see this mess being the result.

Eddie is a grown man. It is his business and his responsibility to complete the orders for his customers.

I never ordered a cue from Eddie, nor did I receive anything in return for writing that review. I have heard rumors that I was given a cue - that is 100% bullshitt, and the person that started and spread that rumor is a liar - I will deal with that on my own. The rest of this mess is Eddie's, and I have no power to change this situation at all for anybody - and I have tried.

I have been receiving messages from people that are insinuating that I bear some responsibility for this.

I don't.

I don't build cues. I don't defend Eddie Wheat's actions, or his lack of action. It was never my idea to go visit Eddie. I went there because Tony (Remy) asked me if I wanted to go visit Eddie's shop with him. It seemed like something cool to do on a Saturday afternoon, so why not?

When I wrote that review, it was done honestly. It was up to Eddie to show everybody that he was top notch cuebuilder that makes a great product. Eddie dropped the ball on this one. He has to live with the consequences.

I don't care about Sharpies. I don't care about cue maker wars. I don't care how anybody feels about Eddie. That is none of my business and I really don't have time for any of that nonsense.

I believe I have gone out of my way to help some of the people that were waiting on their cues. It seems to me that I have received even more criticism for doing that. This tells me that my intentions (before and after) were interpreted incorrectly, and my help was not appreciated (by some, not all). For that reason, I wash my hands of this entire situation.

If you have issues with Eddie owing you money, take it up with Eddie - not me.

Eddie, I know you read this forum. All I have to say is that there are many people out there that sent you money for a product. You have the choice to either refund their money or complete their cue orders (if they still want it). Either way, you owe a lot of apologies, and you owe a lot of money to a lot of people. Do the right thing, or the consequences of not doing the right thing are going to bite you in the asss.

i remember that review. to be honest it really made me think that he was more credible than he apparently is.

but you never told anyone what to do and eddie makes his own choices. the whole situation sucks. i feel bad for everyone that got burned

You gave an honest review of his shop based upon one day in his shop so of course you shouldn't be responsible for what he did with the other 364 days.

Not sure if he is just swamped with orders and bit off more than he could chew or if he's screwing off instead of working, but either way he should be on the up and up about communicating with his customers.

I recently sent a new cue maker an email for plans to make a cue for me. He replied quickly to my email with a quote, but after that nothing. He even gave me the number to his sales rep. I called him...no answer....left a message and no reply. Sent the cue maker another email and no reply. I honestly don't know if he is building this cue or not, but I am now going to Carolina Cues to have one built. If the maker does make the cue I may buy it, or not. It all depends on if I have the cash to do so.

the sky is blue.
Good luck to those who ordered cues from Eddie.

This is the silliest thing I have ever heard. Anyone who has placed any kind of blame on you is merely looking to blame someone - ANYONE as a way of attempting to vent their frustrations with someone who might actually listen, unlike the cue maker in question who evidently does not.

If you buy a pair of Nike golf shoes and hate them... or you order them online and they never sho, do you blame Tiger Woods? If so, you're a fool!

Blackjack has done nothing wrong here. All he did was give his impression of a man he met once. If that man proved to be someone other than he purported to be, its hardly Blackjack's fault.

Dave,

I'm one of the people waiting for a cue (2 actually) from Eddie.
Never once did it cross my mind that you bear any responsibility for Eddie's actions,
or for me trusting him with my money and equipment.
Thank you for everything you contribute here and anywhere else.

It's just the fact that you're accessible to them. It's not your fault, and anyone who thinks it is, is out of their mind. Over the last few years, I've seen you try to be an intermediary in a couple of situations, to help resolve things. You were not obligated, but did so trying to help out some fellow pool players.

Dave, I imagine you're getting nastygrams from people because they feel like you would feel more guilty about the sitch than Wheat, and respond appropriately. That's what they're after, a response. They're upset and they're lashing out, and they picked you because you're far more likely respond than Wheat is (who is apparently incommunicado).

It's sad that Wheat isn't taking care of business. But it's no fault of yours.

Blackjack, you were trying to be a good azer and give your honest opinion. Some people don't get it, and that's too bad. You are a solid contributer here( especially on the straight pool forum), screw the blamers and haters. I have a friend who is in this mess with wheat, and he never blamed anyone else. Chalk it up to experience, and keep doin what you do.

Brian

Dude, what are you talking about? BJ was sticking his nose where it didn't belong by posting a little review of Wheat's shop before Wheat went on tilt and turned crazy?

So, basically the other 100 forum members who post reviews on pool related products, cues, tables, etc, should also not stick their noses where they don't belong as well and just STFU too?

*rolling my eyes*

David,

You are a great contributor here! I really appreciate you being here and your posting this thread shows me that you really care.

I don't know who would make those ugly insinuations, but please ignore them.

Your friend,

Ray

i live very, actually TOO close to Mr Wheat.. if anybody wants an update on their order situation i could drive over to his shop and see whats going on.. let me know.

I remember that review to. I actually called Eddie about a cue after I read it, but decided not to go through with it because he kept trying to push me into ordering a 60" cue. In the end I thought he was a nut and hung up on him. Anyways, I would never think to blame you for my decision to call him. I read through it, realized you were giving a review and not a guarantee of his professionalism. Anyone who thinks its your fault or recieved a cue from Eddie in return is pretty naiive and obviously unable to think for themselves.

Thanks for trying

Dave, imo throughout this entire Eddie Wheat ordeal you have done nothing to encourage or aid Eddie in his horrible decision making process. I at one time actually thought that Wheat was a honest person that was trying to market his product, but later I found out differently. Personally I think he has a lot of personal problems that unfortunately has persuaded him to make these horrible decisions that he has made. But bottom line that is really no excuse to do what he has done, especially to as many people as he has taken advantage of. I believe that he has created some awfully bad karma that will eventually come back at him in some sort of a ugly way. He will get paid for his decisions, as we all get paid for ours. Sometimes pay back is a *****, and it comes in a lot of different ways. Bottom line, i'm glad i'm not him. But to you Dave, keep being you.

Careful!!

Careful! Remember, no good deed goes unpunished as we are seeing with Blackjack right now.

Thanks to Blackjack for trying to help...I am another waiting for a cue from Eddie. 14 months now. I was finally able to contact him thru www.jimboarmy.com as he won't respond to emails or phone calls. He posted there and asked me to remove my post and that's it. I did not. Feeling very ripped off right now.
