When did Walmart start selling Schons???

I thought I'd chime in to give some insight about this. A few months ago, Walmart signed a deal where they were going to let some major 3rd party ecommerce retailers start selling through Walmart.com. One of those companies is CSN Stores, which among other things, sells a wide variety of pool cues and billiards equipment through their everygameroom.com site. This is a similar deal to what we do with Amazon.

Hope this helps clear up some of the questions about Walmart selling Schon!

This scenario has already been mentioned twice in this thread - but as usual, nobody reads.
I believe there are only 3 vendors currently in the WM Marketplace Retailers program.

yeah - i couldn't make it through all the pages of this. i don't get the b*t*hing and moaning. those crappy cnc round points are the same no matter who's name is on your receipt. as far as the great hit goes - it'll still be there. won't matter if your ticket says seyberts or meullers or walmart. and those prices are the same as everywhere else, it's not going to do squat to the value of any other schon, especially the older ones - you know that look as good as they play. it's just another retailer. that's it. now if they had entered into a sales agreement with schon and forcibly raped them like they do all thier other vendors and were selling schons for 100 bucks i'd say you'd have a problem. and someone in this thread mentioned the possibility of you walking into a room and saying hey look at my new cue and someone saying where'd ya get it walmart? and......who cares. what are ya - 12. ooooh he got ya. try this as a response - no your mom gave it to me for knockin' that shit out last night - you know, since your dad can't get it up anymore, with all the drinkin' and meth snortin. see, you have to throw an insult back - that's how that game works and is eventually won. especially if you live in a rual area where shopping isn't easy so you buy a lot of stuff on line who gives a shit. i say buy the cue where you want.

My apologies. I didn't have time to read the entire thread as I don't get to spend much time on the AZ Boards unfortunately. I just saw the confusion and wanted to try and help out. You are correct that there are 3 vendors. They are eBags, CSN Stores and Pro Team.

To the people who say they lost respect for Schön Cues for distributing through Wal-Mart, have you stopped watching SVB play because he accepted a sponsorship from Cuetec?

I wonder what all the naysayers would think if Wal-Mart started sponsoring pool tournaments, and adding several thousand dollars to the payouts. Would they stand by their principles and boycott the tournaments, or would they flock to them for a shot at a reasonably good payday?

Steve

Good idea but probably a zero chance that WM would get involved unless it fit their corporate giving model -

Sorry - was referring to other posts after the Marketplace scenario was initially mentioned, not yours.
Will be interesting to see if this takes off for WM.

I thin k this is the link you meant to post: http://walmartstores.com/CommunityGiving/8781.aspx

The link I posted would give an idea as to the sort of agency
that has benefited from WM's pockets - like schools, medical facilities, charities and such.

I'd venture a guess that if there was something sports related for kids
that included pool on the national level then getting support from WM might be a possibility.

I still love my Schons....and this is not suppose to be a bash wal-mart thread but.... My local wal-mart has 90% part time rate to keep from paying anykind of benifits..which in turn allows them to get welfare and government assistance...I try to give them as little business as possible because it doesnt benifit the employees anyway. I'm not asking anyone to stop shopping at wal mart I'm just saying that one reason I try not to.

That's a separate issue. Wal Mart's business practices leave a lot to be desired certainly but there is no doubt that they are here to stay and that they have changed the landscape in the United States in retail across the board.

People aren't forced to work at Wal Mart. The employees can also unionize. Wal Mart does a lot of good and they do a lot of bad but you can say that about EVERY huge corporation and multinational.

I shop at Wal Mart because 99% of the time they have what I am looking for and they are open when I need them to be.

I wouldn't want to be a vendor for them though. They demand 180 day terms for payment and if what you ship them doesn't sell then they charge the vendor a 20% fee to rotate the stock. But if you can fade terms like that then Wal Mart can make you very rich very quickly on volume alone.

Wal Mart has began to reform it's ways concerning employees though through public and political pressure. Some communities are enacting a special tax on Wal Mart to make up for the lack of health insurance due to Wal Mart's "part time" definitions to get around providing health insurance.

In Sacramento, people just go to Walmart to see the bearded lady named "blah blah". I hear she greets them and then offers them a bag of popcorn. :)

You know I'm joking, I hope.

As long as they keep tipping me more than the cost of the popcorn, I figure I have a job.

: )

Walmart Schon poolcues

Now that it has been established that these cues are suddenly inferior, please contact hotrod to dispose of your blue light specials. Of course I will be needing some huge huge discounts now that these cues have lost so much value since this thread was started. Bring em on.

Wonder if it is like what John Deere did with their line of mowers that are sold at Home Depot. Those are made in China (or so I'm told and they sure look like it), with the mowers you buy at a John Deere store still made in the U.S.

just like Schwinn & mongoose used to make good bikes, then walmart started selling them.....complete garbage, not that i was planning on it....but i won't be buying a schon anytime in the future.

go figure guess they got everything,
Grey Ghost

To be honest, I don't see a problem with Walmart selling any manufacturers product. The world has changed and this economy is not helping matters. Who's to say who may sell a Schon? They're on sale on this site every day. At least if you buy it at Walmart, you're dealing with an honest vendor who will gladly refund your money if you're not satisfied. You also read posts at least weekly about some deal gone sour on this site.

Agree, this might get some higher quality cues out and about in the Walmart served world. I wish you could buy a decent cheap cue at Walmart stores or even Master chalk and a LePro tip. In store they usually have the imports cheap softwood shafts. Why di stires get filled with junk these days.

Don't forget back in the day you could order a complete house kit from Sears, I have a buddy who lives in a Sears house that I think was built in the 20's.

Another point is Walmart could use the occasional American made product beyond bread and milk.

I would have never thought to look at Wal Mart for a cue. Been away for about 15 years and just started back again, and in the market for a new cue.

Mcdermott and Schon were both on my short list, but I just can't bring myself to buy an expensive cue from Wally World. Just can't do it...

OB is in my backyard. My list is getting shorter.

Wow all these threads and nobody mentioned the most important thing!
Layaway  I can see it now $20 a week and i get a new Schon!
