When does BONUS BALL START?!?!?!?!?!

Ehh -- I question this. Doesn't look good. If someone committed fraud, name them. If you don't --- it comes across that no fraud was committed and it's BS. I want BB to succeed -- but the PR of this is just stupid.

I really don't know why Larry does not want to point fingers at the guy! I agree that saying nothing about something is fishy. Honestly, Nathan and I will vouch for Larry...yep, he got screwed. Does it really matter who committed the fraud really? I know and would gladly say but Larry is the one who needs to communicate with inquiring minds. However, I can understand if he rather not until all legal avenues are covered with this company. I'd just leave it at that. He was quick enough to release a press conference which I'm sure was embarressing enough for him.

When I release my book I will have that covered!

Hi Eric,

A very true statement, if Eight Ball or Nine Ball were thriving for the professionals, Larry would not have a chance in hell at getting these players to commit. I already know that. money does motivate top players and it should!

Your post on the gambling is not something that Larry discussed with me as he really does run his own show and the league. I have no idea what you are talking about. I have no money invested period in this league but it is playing Bonus Ball and I certainly have invested interest in that. I certainly wish him the best and all the players.

When I get back to Las Vegas I will be focusing on amateur leagues for the fall of 2013. Starting small and then progressing forward. I love teaching this game to players and I certainly will continue in this direction for years to come.

LOL...now I like you Cleary...That opens the door to show you the skills I have acquired over the years using illustrator! LOL

Barry,

I'm in your corner and Larry as well. I hope BB is a huge success, for my own personal reasons and for pool too. It would be great to see it come to life, i been watching since it was at the US Open years ago. I only mentioned the book part because I know Vegas, not to pick at you or Larry. Just sharing information on Vegas, hell I hope I'm wrong.

Best

How many Bonus Ball Pro's are a member of AZ Forums? Please have just one of them post here how great the game is.

I think this is a very good question. We know that several of the named pros in Bonus Ball are members here, and that they read these forums regularly. Some even post from time to time. So why haven't any of them ever commented on Bonus Ball? Could it be that they think these forums will have absolutely no impact on Bonus Ball's future, one way or another?

More likely they'd rather avoid the standard $hitstorm that occurs any time a pro.posts here, about anything.

Can't say I blame them. Sadly. I wish it weren't that way.

^^^^^ What Dub said.

Amazes me the downright "assholeness" of some people. Really.

Barry, I know you're a Bonus Ball franchisee, but do you actually work for the bonus ball pro league? Are all of your answers directly on behalf of bonus ball pro league? Do you have a position (paid) with bonus ball?

^^^I must have missed the answers to these questions^^^

I saw Barry posted via Facebook that he was asked to not post on here any more. I'm not sure if that is in general or specifically Bonus Ball related.

When bonus ball starts there will be a lot of people checking it out that may not have even heard about it if it weren't for all the haters.

I think that it would be unreasonable to expect anyone either on salary or with another vested financial interest in BB to say anything other than positive things about BB...it's a naturally built-in favorable bias.

This forum should be serving as a major "focus group", and anyone with a lick of sense would be paying serious attention to what we're saying. Impact? Major impact!!

I think most people including pros are waiting to see what the finished product looks like before they give their opinions.

It's not fair to not post answers to questions about Bonus Ball to the Azbilliards fans who don't want to bash Bonus Ball. Of course, when you hear players that post stupidity, you want to clear the air for all the real great readers of these forums. I only do it once in a while so they may think they are baiting me but the truth is, our hits and ball sales went sky high the last shit storm here!

I try to not stir the pot too much but I'm not afraid to get attacked by ten people if I can introduce two players to this fun game. I'm thick skinned and I love all pool players no matter what game of pool they play. I play all games of pool just as I will race any type of race car...that has roll bars! LOL

I don't see BB getting really big.. a sport gets huge from amateurs playing it and with the pool economy the way it is, I don't see pool rooms shelling out money at new balls, scoreboards ect...

Anything that brings attention to the sport in a positive way is good though.

In any relatively new business model growing from zero, or just a few, customers to any larger number of customers is easy and, although the actual numbers may be small, shows a numerically impressive growth factor, but after a year or so and having hundreds, or possibly even thousands, of existing customers, it becomes harder and harder to maintain any, let alone, equivalent growth.

I have had the opportunity to play bonus ball with Barry on a few occasions. The very first time we played we used regular pool balls, a coin under the rail to keep score, and no shot clock. Simple, and no additional costs. They do have a scoreboard you can download with a timer for PCs if you choose.

Hopefully never. Hate to sound negative, but am I the only one that hates the "bonus ball" game?
No. You are not the only one. I watched a BB match on you tube last night for the first time. I did not like it at all. There was painful commentary, ugly jerseys, fake exitement. It was roller derby on a pool table, but without the watchability. At least Archer and Klatt coulda got into a fake fight or something.

I bought mine on sale before posting on AZ - "Preparation is All" CJ Wiley

I think bonus ball will be popular with the amateurs..As I understood the game has been altered slightly for lesser players..Shoot any pockets or something like that.Either way I hope it as a success because it is currently the only thing attempting to pay the player to play the game they enjoy .Win or lose..Good luck..

Feb 1st is the start date. The Utah Tornados vs the Alaska skallywags will be on ppv for 15 bucks.

$15 is a little absurd for a regular season game in any sport let alone pool. I might have paid $5 for curiosity sake.

The actual PPV price is just under $2 bucks a match. It's really tough to believe much you read on this site! Go here...www.wpbl.tv I have Winnipeg Jets hockey tickets for sale...$189.00 a piece...

Playing the game quickly changes ones mind about the merits of the game.

I never play football but I watch it all the time. That blows the theory if you don't play it, you won't watch it! How many people drive a NASCAR stock car? About 150,000 show up o watch these events.

You may not like the sports uniforms but that is how the rest of the sporting world rolls! I like it! When I played amateur eight ball my teams wore nice t-shirts and we looked like a team. I don't know why pool players care about the team look!

Klatt and Archer battling it out on the Gold Crown would definitely be entertaining!

Pool is not other sports, and it's counterproductive to pretend like it is,
when it comes to watching matches online.

But the NFL is free! The NBA is free! Golf is free!
We're not those games. We don't have the money. When pepsi pays $4,000,000 for a 30 second spot during the DCC or Us Open, and people will pay thousands to sweat it live, then we can start airing those events for $free.99.

"I just hope he succeeds and that the rest of the world gets to see these top professionals playing in a well structured and competitive format."

Amen brother.

How anyone on AZBilliards can possibly not want to see Pros playing regularly in a high-quality environment and being fairly compensated for it is beyond me.

If you hate the format or the game itself you don't have to watch it. Just remember there was a time when professional Pool was purely Straight Pool. Anything else were mere "gimmick games" as Mosconi used to disparagingly call 9 Ball and One Pocket.

If it happens that Bonus Ball takes off and becomes the dominant professional tournament game the change is going to be jarring to some, but frankly change is exactly what the miserable wasteland of professional Pool in the USA needs. We need more money, organization and promotion being done by hard working, honest and well intentioned people in our sport, not less.
