With the government trying and succeeding in taking over all aspects of our lives they now set their sights on people with ivory. Since most large cues have ivory and the Nazi's are monitoring this site why would any smart person show their cues here?

I think part of the problem is the harsh critique and comments some Azers tend to express about cues
that aren't even theirs. Unless the cue-maker was Szam, Mobley, Searing, Black Boar....you get the drift.
The cues made by lesser known, or relatively unknown, cue-makers get judged differently and minutia
comments are expressed about what's not perfect.
So folks figure why expose myself to that and if the cue had ivory in it, forget about it.....then they really
should expect to get dumped on. You don't see that when someone posts a photo of their ebony/ivory BB cue.
AZ has lost its zip n go.......its future is not bright.......I wish it weren't so but the truth cannot be ignored
nor denied....I think it should be redone........all paid members........everyone pays at least a $1.00 per month
or $1.50 ($18.00 annual) or maybe make it $20 but AZ has to change its approach to earn & deserve the money.
The AZ site would still allow visitors to browse the site for free but absolutely no posting privileges. What about
$15.00 annually for members but they have no selling privileges but $25.00 annually ($10.00 more) if you wish
to sell anything. The truth is when you give something away for free, people do not appreciate what they have
but if & when you charge for that same service, it instantly becomes more important.to its users.

I can't help but agree with you, with the caveat that even pictures of well regarded cuemakers get their share of negatives from the trolls. I've put up quite a few cue pictures on this site over the years. Now and then, there can be a troll, who never has anything of his own to show, that comments on inlays being off center, and the like. Of course, a lot of criticism is due to camera distortion, but these trolls don't have the sophistication to know that in the first place.
But, there is a common theme, that posting of nice cues has gone down, and that's a shame. Regarding a pay for play that you suggest? I wouldn't be opposed. Might cut down on the troll behavior. The ivory issue, of course, has a life all its own.
All the best,
WW
All thanks to a Government that has Absolutely exceeded it's Authority. Not to mention that the Nation is nearly 20 Trillion in debt & The Government has decided it needs to go after Pool Cue Builders & Collectors. Perfect.Well now, only since Dean has asked. Here’s a cue I received from Samsara several months ago. As was the case with my Manzino Gatsby cue, no ivory was used. The cue has tiger eye stones for inlays and ring work. The entire process for cutting, honing and polishing these individual stones before inlaying is insanely time-consuming. The afzalia burl fantails were created using their uniquely creative process which employs a wood working technique known as intarsia.
IMO, Samsara has always made cues that played as well as they look. For this cue, I had Jim and Dave fit it with one of their new LD True Shafts. For those not familiar with it, the shaft closely resembles other low deflection products on the market but uses a solid maple rather than a laminated shaft. I’m very happy with the balance, feel and playability of this cue.
I think as others have said, the ivory uncertainty has put a damper on cue collecting. Cue shows will feel that impact as well. The ICCS appears to be moving towards an every other year event. I doubt we'll ever see it return to California. Anyone but me notice that the ACA website hasn't seen an update for years? There hasn't been a maker inducted into the HOF since 2011. I can think of several that should be. Like everything else about pool, interest seems to be waning. I truly hope that will change in time.

You are right about the criticism of unknown cuemakers. It does make one not want to post. Who needs their butt kicked by a stranger? There are a number of cuemakers in the U.S. who build really great cues but they are not interested in criticism from, in many cases, wannabes or know it alls.
