if it snow's there-its off the list.

Vegas is WAY off the list, i'm here the past week, but i'm sick of it here. 20 years in and out of Vegas in enough, i hate it here, the pool scene is as good as I ever saw in the past 20 years, too bad its got good since I left.

I'm in LA the past 2 months and its a joke, 20,000,000 people and 30 lock smiths with ZERO gamble, Damn shame too, and they have $$$ too, thats what makes me sick. they wont flip a coin for $100 but will play $100/pool-wow that shows lots of gamble-NOT!!! If they took a chance they might win something I got my nose open, come bust me, but dont stick me up. But they take no chances and never make scores, they grind on each other for pennys. Just more than the table time, which might be high stakes else where. I never seen anything like it in 26 years. They will throw $$ in the fire at a casino knowing they got the worst of it, but wont bet anything on pool. What ever I cant fix their problems.

I used to drive from N Ca to La and make $$ from 86-90, Bobs Billiards in Anaheim, Varsity billiards, and other rooms that are gone, now there are no new rooms and little action, nice guys to chat with, but man to find a game thats close to being fair is just gone.

I need some new grass under my feet,

any ideas?

thanks

Too many things to do in Cali.

Pool will be extinct in California pretty soon and the bar tables will be of the norm in the next 10 years or so.

Billiards is a dying game in a progressive state as California. It's just the way it is.

Best Billiards LV is the best spot in the US!

Today was fun, great to see you Fatboy.

I hear all your points... Maybe you need to head to China, I hear they may gamble really high once in a while... like one match being more than all the pro pool players' yearly winnings combined, maybe. Makes sense, after all who makes everything we consume?

Time to learn Mandarin LOL...

Try the forgotten N.W. - I have personally watched many four figure matches, and a few four figure games (one pocket).
We certainly have a few players up here.
There are a couple of places that are pool friendly (as in letting them play all night +) Golden Fleece in Kenmore, and Malarkey's in Tacoma.
I don't know if it just isn't as out in the open here, but I have seen the money.
Am not a backer, or player (for real stakes that is), and I am not saying I can arrange matches.
Also, I don't think I am really putting out "new" info - just want to remind folks we are here.

I hear great things about the Houston pool scene. I will be a part of it some day.

best pool in the usa.

fat boy, i believe will still have pool players. the sad thing is that we dont have people willing to sweat their bets anymore. think about this, years ago you had the bookies in the pool room. you had the drug dealers in the pool room who had tons of cash to piss away. they were all there because they had beepers and needed to be close to a pay phone. now, we all have cell phones. no need to hang in the pool room, barber shop whatever. you get my point. now you have people who play pool but have no cash. fifty dollar one pocket is good action here in b more all day long. just my thoughts. thanks paul

come to atalnta. you might get some bad weather in the winter once a year. maybe. i have been here four years and have seen it bad once. for the most part the weather is decent.
now the pool. if you want action it's here and on all levels. we have pros on down. players are always coming and going through here as well. but you can walk into at least three places - mr. cues 2, marietta billiard club or classic billiards say you want a game and you should be able to make one. not mention if you are here within a few hours you can hit north fl., tn., al,. nc,. sc., and a few other spots to make games. it's a nice central hub to the south and there's a whole gang of players in the south.
if you really want me to give you a sales pitch drop me a pm.

Buffalo's billiards in New Orleans !

They been gambling there big & small every night....Almost like the good old days !

Troy or anybody else, OT, but have you ever heard of a player named Walter Juengling from down your way?

Only Walter I ever knew on the pool world from New Orleans goes by the nickname Tenaco...Can't remember his last name..alot of people don't even know his 1st name...only know him by Tenaco..lol

Ps...He use to be real juicy action !

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to have to find out if this is his nickname. I've been doing some interviews lately and his name came up, so before I can relay a few pool tales about him, which are juicy BTW, I want to dig up some more data. It's so hard to find data about pool peeps unless it's by word of month.

I did hear that he was from Metairie originally.

People don't have money to Gamble in California, as the place is too expensive to live, and the State is almost Broke.

California has lots too many job to the countries Off Shore, Mexico, South America, and other States that are friendly to business.

1. Tulsa/Oklahoma City
2. New Orleans "Buffalo Billiards" Best pool room on the planet IMO.
3. Houston: Don't know much about the gambling scene but plenty of good rooms, tournaments and every cue discipline is well represented (snooker, carom, pool etc.)

Of these three choices I would go with Houston. There is plenty to do here outside of pool. Houston also has a relatively good economy considering how bad it is everywhere else. The cost of living is cheap and money can be made here with the oil industry booming the way it is.

Although I don't know much about the gambling scene for pool the gambling situation for carom is huge. I have witnessed more action in a Vietnamese pool room in 3 hours than I have watched in 3 years of hanging out in pool rooms combined. The Texas holdem' action here is incredible. Huge house games and huge games in underground rooms.

Come on down to the beach. You can hang with me .If it is happening,
Then I usually know about it

The Tulsa - Ok City area, which is close to Dallas, Wichita & Olathe is a thought. Having suffered the corrupt weather climate in the Houston area, I wouldn't live there again to save my life.

Fatboy, the TAR Studio ought to be your best friends, that studio could be the new home to some of the greatest matches ever. If the boys out of the orient wanted to come visit, the action level will be high enough to drown most mortal men.

Justin just might be the guy that gets to make the new Pool Movie, just from the games that happen at his place. Maybe the bookies would want to get into the mix, so all of us little folks can do some telephone wagering.

Good Luck in your quest....
