Thanks for posting this info and for the article. Whether the story is true or not I hope we can all agree ivory contributes nothing that enhances how a cue plays and it only can enhance its value. Shamefaced I admit I have cues with ivory but it has been over ten years since I have had a cue made which included ivory and will never do so again. Oh yeah, I'm sure the elephants thank you too!

If you believe elephants landed on the moon or hit the Pentagon with a missile then you beyond help.
I'm 35 and I hope that when my 4 year old is my age, that there will still be elephants when he is my age. I know that you have had the opportunity to hunt elephants, but IIRC you at least left the meat for the locals. Poachers tend to leave the bodies.
We're told that any ivory in this country is pre-ban ivory and has all the necessary paperwork to prove it. But as with anything that humans can make money off of there's bound to be fraud.
Ivory looks great and if I could be sure it came from an animal that died of natural causes I wouldn't have any qualms about having some accent a beautifully made cue.
Personally, I'm just not comfortable with the thought of being part of the problem that's leading to the extinction of these magnificent creatures.

yes its a pity that this goes on..where else is the money going to come from..

One of the reasons why I wouldn't have a cue with a spec of ivory in it.
Sure, the people that are doing the poaching are the criminals but if there wasn't a huge demand for ivory, there wouldn't be a need for a large supply.
Who are the major buyers of illegal Ivory. Chinese. What would you expect a decadent culture. Also creating a large demand for the gall of a bear just because a bit of the gall powder can make a small wrinkly Chinese pee pee hard.
That demand even extended into Canada. What would you expect from people that will eat anything. If it eats and craps, they eat it or abuse it.

Maybe Eric can take you over and you can harvest your own.
Heres an idea tho. Poach a bunch of bears, cut their galls out. Leave their bodies to rot in the sun.
Trade the galls to the Chinese for Ivory. They have lots. Cut the Africans out of the deal.
And then you could do the same to harvest deer penis. They like that a lot too. Dried deer penis. Makes you pee pee hard. Better than Viagra.
