Where's all the talk about moving to 10' tables?

OK, you dont think 10 footers have a snowballs chance.

I respect your opinion and always read your posts.

I'm curious

Lets pretend the unthinkable happens and there is a switch to 10's for major pro events.

What effect you think that would have?

I am interested in this question as well. It may involve future difficulty for accessing an adequate table to practice on. If the pro game switches to 10 footers, I gaurantee that pool rooms in my area will not care or switch. That will be a problem for an aspiring pro. Hard to fit one of those in a lot of houses. I begged and pleaded with the missus to let me have space for a 9 footer. 10 footer would likely just be a fantasy for me...

10' Tables

I will try to put this discussion 2 rest!

Big Bertha is'nt going 2 make a comeback period!

Sad but true, the economics of the pocket billiard industry
won't allow its return.

Consider yourselves lucky to have Jason at TAR who will bring
the Majesty of Bertha back 2 life at his new TAR Studio!

Not sure if you have noticed but the economics of this game are ATM pitiful. What are you trying to save by keeping things as they are? A slow lingering death? The fact is same ole same ole is going to kill this sport, things need to change in a big way unless we are all happy with no pro game and an ever decreasing number of people playing this game.

I don't expect that pool rooms are going to start opening with 5'x10's and 7ft bar tables trust me. I do expect how ever that there WILL be a certain number of room owners in this country that would be willing to have 1 5'x10' on hand for the challenge of better players...and for those that would like to see what it's like to play on a great playing 10'...REAL pocket pool table. As far as rental cost goes, I can guarantee you...ONE 5'x10' table in a room full of other tables is going to by the hour....get more use than any other table in the room...because of the fact...that there's only ONE to play on, therefore the choice is limited.

I can also assure you...Diamond WILL build this table...as we've already built the 9' straight rail billiards table...and yes...the demand is out there.

As far as a one piece slate vs a three piece slate...we'll see how that goes to begin with, but you can be rest assured...I have a way of turning a 3 piece slate into a one piece slate...during the set up of this table...which means to anyone with the room for one....it'll be able to be installed no matter what....because it can be disassembled for installation no different than any other Diamond ProAm:cool:

I certainly agree that change is needed. The same old tired thinking will not advance the game. I for one will certainly try out big bertha...

I will try one, but I am MUCH more interested in watching a professional race to 9 10-ball tournament with all the worlds top players such as Ralf, Thorsten, Orcullo, LeeVan, SVB, Earl, Archer, Yang, Wu, Hatch, and all the others and see if we finally start to see some seperation in the top ranks and see if some people start to pull away and be shown as the best of the best, instead one of the 40 best.

MoonshineMattK...Personally, I don't think it would have much effect on the pros. Neither Shane nor Earl had trouble with the size of the table. Shane had some trouble with the way the table was put together, but if it was a REAL 10', as RKC suggests, those players at the elite level pocket so well that I don't think it would change much, once they got used to them. Of course this is JMO. :D

Well Glen, as I said, I spoke with Greg about this last May, and he told me in all seriousness that there will be no rush to build 10' tables. Yes, it will depend on demand...but I don't think the demand is as strong as you seem to think it is. I think Greg's comment was, "Show me the MONEY"! LOL

10-footers

Actually...all 4 will have 1 piece slates to begin with:cool: and yes, the 9ft straight rail billiards tables are not only finished...they're already being delivered...as I just finished delivering and setting up 3 of them in Houston, TX.

Where were the 10-footers in Houston installed?

A trip to hit some balls on one of these is on my bucket list.

I have not doubt with the correct mix of tables some will get more money per week logged in than others.

I installed 3 Diamond 9ft straight rail billiards tables...not 10' 3C tables. We haven't built the 10' 3C tables as of yet;)
