It was here yesterday?????
PSOTY under new management was poorly managed
so the mods pulled it.
This should be qualified as your opinion, to which you are entitled. Several others felt as you did. However, you have no idea how many disagreed with your criticism.
Bob, to address you question; Jamie did not want to continue running the thread. It is alot of work to run it and keep it on point. We all owe Jamie a big thanks. Jamie, thanks for doing this service for all the members for so many years. I appreciated the opportunity to see all the great cues.
Skins offered to run the thread and as the curator wanted to try a new format. There were several very strong early entries, but the new format was met by sharp criticism from several posters. However, to my recollection, none of the "critics" had entered cues for consideration. Since this is a "free" service that a member volunteers to do for others enjoyment, and instead of producing that intent it was becoming a platform for complaining, why do it?
I know Skins has better things to do if other members want to" look a gift horse in the mouth". Skins requested the thread be taken down so that those who prefer a different format can indentify it and run it.
So, whether we like it or do not like it, we must learn to like it because now there is nothing.
Why bother with formalities and just declare Jimmyrayk's Monster Boar the winner.

My vision moving forward would be to have one thread to capture all cues posted here in one place. No comments, no opinions, just a place to view all cues made during the current year for all to enjoy. That is what it is all about IMO.
Jamie
I think you're slightly off base here. I was one of the "critics" (although I prefer to use the term 'realist'.) Frankly, if you're going to run a poll, the best way to do that is to use the 'poll' feature.
It tallies the votes for you and makes it extremely clear which cue received which votes. Asking people to submit a picture that counted both as their nomination and their vote OR a description of the cue... it was confusing and perhaps not the best idea.
It left people wondering "Why? How is this easier? It's just confusing." It limited people's options. No longer could a collector who took in multiple cues have all of them considered... unless he found other people to nominate them for him.
Frankly, the voting process may have saved Tim time in terms of gathering up all the nominees into one thread but my guess is he would have HATED having to count all the votes, scrolling through pages and pages (if it even got that far) or posts and reading each one.
Still as a 'critic' even I nominated and voted for a cue. Jamie also didn't fully understand OR embrace the concept. But still, he nominated and voted for a single cue. Other 'critics' voted for cues as well. In the end, I have to wonder if perhaps Tim asked the thread to be pulled because he realized his system would have taken up MORE of his time or if it was because people just didn't like the format.
