Which case will hold its value over time, a JB or Justis? I need a little help to decide which one of these cases that I will sell since I've reduced my cue collection and now only need one case. I have a gut feeling that the answer is Justis. (and please, JB, can you not post in this thread?)

Probably the Justis more so but actually neither. If you could get half of what you paid you should be happy. They are nothing unique and JB cases are always coming off the line so there is no shortage of new cases.

Worse even is if you pimp it up with you name in like 2 inch letters. What is with that? Who wants a case with someone else's name on it. That is the same with cues.
 
I think both of their custom cases would hold their resale value decently well, but I'd just get a JB rugged for way cheaper and potentially lose a few bucks on resale. You wouldn't even lose much really, those things go used for close to the MSRP all the time.
 
Can you post some pictures ?

I don't think it's a clear decision. The design, uniqueness, color, etc., will affect resale value.
 
In the $500 and up range Justis cases are easier to resale.
Justis & JB both make beautiful cases.

JB by far. Jack sticks his basic design. John will build what ever you want.

Sturdiness:
I believe JB case will hold up better in the long run.

Functionality:
JB hands down. John's cases are a lot easier to get in and out of the pockets

Cue Protection:
JB is way out in front on this one.
 
I would be more inclined to keep whatever case I liked best, and not worry about resale value. First off theres no guarantee about anything holding its value, secondly why keep a case for money reasons if it doesnt fit your needs as well as the other?

I would want both manufacturers of the cases I was inquiring about to come into this thread and explain the resale value on their cases if this were my thread. Its not mine, but I hope you find the info you are looking for.
 
Don't forget Dennis Swift the forgotten Cue Case Maker, made in the USA. Build to with stand a War, very reasonable price. IMHO.
 
If you're one of the fortunate few that can afford to own top end cases entirely for the sake of collection, then I'm happy for you. If you're actually going to use a case on a regular basis - the re-sale value is kind of a non-issue. Cases absorb wear - the nature of the beast.
If you're gonna use it, get what works for you & forget the re-sale side.

I will tell you a funny story. I was in this place playing and I was playing their local player and there was a pretty good crowd gathered. I took a break to go to the rest room. I come out and he is breaking down his cue and they are all buzzing a little.

While I was in the bathroom someone picked up my cue, a Ginacue and they see the name Danny DiLiberto engraved in the butt cap. Ginacue did that a lot, they had Ginacue on one side and the owners name on the other in a small script.

I told them I was not Danny I just had his cue. Actually, he borrowed a few bucks and I ended up with the cue. Either way it was guilt by association and they wanted nothing more to do with me.
 
Why limit yourself. Women have several purses. I have several cue cases. Not to match an outfit but some for carrying 2 cues. Some for 3 or 4 cues. Some cases for storage. I rotate cases based on my needs at the time.

I lost money on every case sold and got one hard to sell or get what it deserves cause it is rare old and little known except by old school road warriors.

I put my nickname spimp which was from pool originally growing up on the strap of my Justis case. I have no intention of selling it, but if I did they can replace the strap easily. That and a thief is less likely to steal it at the pool hall when they see the name (not remembering they also could change the strap). It also gives my case a personal touch.

Investing in cue cases as investment is a terrible way to use your money... Buy a cue case cos you need it and love it. If you don't want to get burned too much then just spend $200 on a simple case.
