Which cue maker would you buy from?

I am thinking of buying a new cue and I am wondering what everyones opinion would be on this.Keep in mind that I would prefer the cue to go up in value or at least not go down in value.I know the whim of this changes almost daily but I am still curious what you all think.I probably will wait to go to Valley Forge to see all the CM's there and then decide.I would also like to kepp it in the 2k or under range.

In your range.. Skip Weston, Paul Fanelli, Tucker (retired :) ), lower end Mottey / White, Gilbert, Barnhart lotta good cues. If you go to VF you can get a pre-owned cue with more work for that money. If you don't mind second hand.

Sean's right, buy what you like. Cues are very trendy, hot today, cold tomorrow.

Pics of Morris Cue

Although I also like the work of several other cuemakers I agree with you here. In fact, I'm going to be posting pix of several new Ned Morris cues within the next week or so. Most will be very nice and simple lower end cues. A few are higer-end, unique and loaded with inlays.

Martin

Here are a couple of the cue I got from Ned Last June:

19 ounces, 4 holly points into ebony, three veneers, rosewood, ebony, maple with matching ringwork. Holly inlays in butt. Bronze 3/8 x 10 pin, ivory joint, ferrules, and buttcap. All work is hand done, no CNC.

I can't help but wonder if retirement, health, age, etc. of the cuemaker doesn't figure in. I heard that, for instance, Bill Stroud announced his retirement recently, which will obviously limit the availability to his existing cues. Supply and demand...
Oh, great, Steve. Just when I'm trying to buy a Stroud cue from Dak21st!! lol j/k :D

Nobody has mentioned Ned Morris. He is a great guy to deal with, makes a superbly crafted cue that hit beautifully, and his cues are still very reasonable priced. You can definitely get something nice for under 2K and in less than six months.
I agree. Ned's cues play great for the $$$. I would also like to mention Rick Howard's they are great players cues at a decent price.

Jack Kompan!!!!!!!!!!!!! Period. Best cue for the money, best playing cue I have ever played with, and some of the most exotic wrapless cues you will ever see. 400 brand new with 2 shafts. You can't come close to beating that. Pick out your woods and he'll make them for 400 w/ 2 shafts. I'll post pics this weekend to show you some of his cues in progress and some of his finished cues. Thanks

Tony
