Pool is way harder to master.

I have bowled in the 200s many times and I don't consider myself even a scratch bowler.

Pool by far. I've only bowled maybe 20 times in my life and even I once bowled a 195. I've seen total novices bowl well over 200. I don't know much about bowling so I'm not sure what a perfect 300 game would equate to in pool but it seems to happen way more often than say a 150 and out in straight pool.

a little off topic but I like that in bowling each player has the same chance as his opponent, they can match frames until the end. Very fair IMO.

By harder what do you mean? Winning at or playing?

Anyone can pick up a cue and shoot ball, or roll a ball down the lane. Mastering it is completely different.

Pool is a game that depends on your opponent. The opponent has more affect on the out come than bowling.

In bowling everyone has a set amount of frames. It doesn't matter what you do you will still get another turn and what your opponent does will not affect your next turn.

In pool there is no guarantee that you will ever have a turn.

To be great at either takes a lot of practice, and focus.

Either game has a lot of bench marks. Bowling has it's perfect game and pool has it B and R.

You see a lot of 300 games but not too many 900 series. You see a ton of break and runs but not too many 150 runs or perfect snooker scores.

I would say pool overall because of straight pool and snooker.

Anything you get better at as you consume alcohol is not that hard. Therefore pool is definitely more difficult than bowling.

When I was in high school a huge group of us would bowl pot games and it was really competitive. There were way fewer guys I could match up with in the pool room without giving up all kinds of weight.

How great would it be to be a bowlers gambling for big money. No need to discuss all the rules and the best part would be no arguments over fouls.

I would gamble with so many more people in pool if it weren't for all the foul and rule arguments.

If you practice the granny roll for about 10 hours, you can effectively reach a level of competency equal to a B player in pool - which takes how many hours (years) exactly?

Enough said.

Actually I would equate a "break n run" in pool to closing out the 10th frame with all strikes in bowling.

At the top pro level if you bowl 3 games in a row at less than a 280 avg you're probably going to lose. That's ONE match, a tourney could involve bowling at that level through quite a few matches. To compare to pool it would be like entering a Straight pool tourney playing to 200 and having to "consistantly " be able run 150 to beat your competition. Bowling balls get very heavy after awhile. But it is apples and oranges.

Darts is just as difficult at top pro level.....imagine trying to hit the exact spot you need every time while drunk as a skunk!
