Which game is harder: pool or golf?

This is a fair question and no 'apples to oranges' copouts!
I recently tried golf for the first time, and I'm absolutely positive it's demonstrably harder.
You need to know a bunch of different sticks intimately.
You can get by with 1 cue for everything but try getting by with just 3-iron or putter in golf.
You need to do actual physical work to hit a ball. As in strain. As in you get blisters. Your whole body gets into it. The physical effort of pool is negligible. You can play pretty sporty in a wheelchair or even with a cast on one arm. I never felt beat from hitting pool balls, but I surely feel beat after hitting a bucket at the range.
You need to deal with real weather. Pool players burst into flames if sunlight gets anywhere near them and cry if humidity affects the outcome of theirshot by a quarter inch. Golfers have to deal with humidity affecting their shots by 50 feet.
Every 'table' is VIOLENTLY different in golf. Not the difference between an AMD and a diamond... more like the difference between an 8-sided 'savage speedball' table with bar cloth and 10 foot snooker table with heated simonis 4000. Imagine if you had to play a 10 game set on a different table every match, with each one having unique rolls and uneven slate.
Even though this is a game where the ball must travel hundreds of yards... the "guaranteed make" distance of a golf put is probably shorter than the "guaranteed make" distance of a straight in shot in pool.

PS: Did John S. chime in on this one yet? He's the most qualified to say, as he plays AAA pool and (from what I hear) at least strong B golf.

I would not say one game is harder than the other. I have been playing both since I was a kid and even though I play pool more I am much better at golf.
Pool is a simpler game than golf, less elements
It depends on the person in my opinion his skills and character may be more inclined or suited to one of the sports.

golf is more physically challenging, very significantly so. All of the coordination required and how you deliver it to the ball. It is also requires more feel, as there are many more uncontrollable and unmeasurable effects like elevation, wind, etc.
Pool (depending on the game) can require more knowledge of physics (although you can learn by feel), patterns, precision, and mental challenges of playing against someone and not getting to shoot again, etc.

Golf is the harder, without a doubt. I love pool, so dont get bent out of shape, but golf requires so much more skill, physical ability, coordination, and many other factors that I have spent way too much money trying to get! lol! I play pool almost everyday, and last summer, I played golf almost everyday. I have ran many racks of 9 ball and 8 ball, however, I can count on one hand how many times I shot even par or under last summer. I cant tell you how many times I have hit good golf shots that end up being bad, 300 right down the middle off the tee, just to find my ball in a divot. I play it down, so play it as it lays, so instead of having an easy wedge in, Ive got a chip 8 iron and make bogey
dammit that hole still haunts me! I know some would say that pool has its share of lucky or unlucky rolls, but golf is a whole different animal, and I am nowhere near slaying this beast! Just my opinion fellas.

How many shots can a person take on a driving range in an hour?
Sheer repetition just isn't going to get it done. Practice long & wrong, play bad in both games.

you put a 9 ball in the center of the table and the cue ball 1/2 inch from being frozen anywhere on the table. then ask the spectators if they think the pro poolplayer will make or miss. 98% will say it will be made. you put a golf ball in the center of any pga green then ask the spectators the same question. will the pro make or miss the put. 90% will say no.

Give Tiger Woods 3 weeks in a pool hall and I bet he will run a few racks:thumbup: I think if you compare pool to just putting than they would be close to equal. Anyone can play pool not everyone can hit a golf ball. Golf is one of the toughest games in the world.

I couldn't hit the ball that far. A real golf course would have eaten me alive. I had a lot of limitations.
I went back to pool, after not hitting a ball for five years. It took some time but I've come back to playing pretty well.
If I go back to golf, I know I will still lack the ability to play at a high level. Using different clubs to hit every shot is the hardest part for me.

Just from the perspective of match pressure, which game do you think is harder? Pool or Golf?
Regarding caddies, .001% or less of golfers have a caddie.....I have never played with one....
Regarding one club/cue....most pool players I know carry at least two cues in their case and many use two during a game if they break or jump.....numerous players actually use three, with a third jump cue.....as a hacker, I can likely shoot in the 90's with just a 7 iron.....give me a 5 and a 9 iron, I might break into the 80's....gimme a 3, 7, and a wedge, I bet I could go low 80's.....give Tiger a 7 iron and he can shoot par on most public courses.....
Regarding repetition, I had a buddy that did this drill on the driving range where he hit 100 balls in less than 15 minutes.....that can be done too....
I love pool, incredible game, but just the sheer number of elements to manage make golf harder...

They're both easy games to become very good at for people with good eye hand and who take a reasonably intelligent approach to both.

Pool came easy too. I consider myself very lucky in that regard. But artistically, I am an SL2 for life. I couldn't paint a pic or pump out anything on note if you gave me two years. Many tasks are person specific I believe.
Overall though, take an average coordinated intelligent person and give him a month of unlimited time and resource for each game, and no question which game 90% of players will reach a level of competence first in.
Some people have no birth right to ever step foot on a golf course and demonize eveyone around him with their play. Fewer meet that criteria in pool. Golf is far more humbling for most.

Golf is harder because of the weather amd because its expensive. If your not a pro or a trust fund baby you have to work to be able to afford the expensive asz shiz. Where pool you can just beat drunks in a strip bar everynight and be able to afford beer, quarters, and shizzy bar food.
I disagree with you a bit here. Your opponent is the table, not the other guy. When you are at the table your opponent can't do anything to you. Example, every time you break the balls it's you and the table, the other player has nothing to do with the decisions or shots you attempt.

Pool player only has to hit the ball at most 9 feet into one of six holes. Golfer has to hit one ball 400+ yards, miss every tree, sandtrap, water hazard, carts, people, animals, deal with the weither being too hot, too cold, windy, rainy etc.
Golf is harder.
