which pool star would you like a movie made?

Road Trip

The greatest pool movie ever, if done right, would be a road trip with, Ronnie Allen and Keith McCready.

Willie Mosconi: THE legend of pool. He is the biggest name this sport has ever seen and had quite the life.

Alas, Minnesota Fats is the biggest name the sport has ever seen. Sad, but true.

Who would you like to see portray Keith in a movie of his life? I said James Woods earlier.

James Woods wouldn't be bad, but I'm kind of partial to Sean Penn for this role! I think he could pull it off. :p

How about a movie about 4-5 pool players who got started for different reasons, and the different paths they chose. One an ass, one a nice guy, one a tournament player, a hustler, and one that was a great player and decided to work for a living. You could use Keith, Efren, George, and a couple of others as examples, and use a lot of their stories. What a movie, maybe do it as them sitting around reminiscing at a diner.

A younger actor

Maybe a younger guy to play keith and then just let him be himself. There'd be nothing better than Keith telling stories. Get him and a couple guys started and they'd go crazy.

I like hearing the stories when Keith and his friends reminisce about the ACTION days. He's played quite a few name-brands and seems to have been in all the right places on the action scene when it was prevalent, almost Forrest-Gumpish. :D

I remember when "Rounders" came out. I liked the poker aspect of the movie, especially John Malkovich! :p

I had always thought that Matt Damon would do justice to a pool movie, AND he plays a little in real life, too!

My most enjoyable memories of Keith.........

I remember quite a few times in the 70's when we were all at some tournament and there would always be a ring game that stayed going on for the entire tournament. The consistent contestants would always seem to be Keith, Louie, Cole, Clyde, Jimmy Reid, Denny Searcy, Billy Johnson, etc.
These ring games were the most entertaining part of the tournament for me. They were usually for some pretty high steaks - BUT - the players all seemed to get along and not take it all that serious. I even got into my share of them when the timing looked right. I even busted one of them one time in Hot Springs. It was for $30 a game and Buddy, Remp, Louie & Hopkins were in it. Man, I was playing good back then - Ahh, the memories!
These games also got more CA$H out of the stands than you could have gotten with a pistol. I can't tell you how many times Louie would go broke and be back within 10 min with some more barrels.
I asked Louie if he had any idea how bad of a gamble it was for him to play in these games - He said, "What are you talking about Tom"? If and when I bust this game - I'll get half. I came here broke and this is the best shot to pump up.
One time, there was this fellow who Louie had just beaten out of over $3K the previous week. He asked Louie to play some more the same way. Louie said "Hell No". Louie told me later, "I can go back to Tulsa and play him anytime - BUT - This ring game will only be going on for a couple of more days".
Sure Enough - Louie busted the ring game - BUT - he never even got out of the building with any CA$H.

JAM - I'm sure Keith remembers a lot of these ring games - Can he think of some other regular players.

Iwould like to see a movie of Thorsten Hohmann's life (yes i know i'm biased), but I think it would be great to find out about how he honed his skills and to find out about his time in the german army.

I thought of Penn also. However, he just always has a look on his face like he is mad about something. His look is just too intense.

efren reyes - the most interesting story of a pool player
buddy hall - the hustler
alex pagulayan, thorsten hohmann - new hotshots
steve davis - very funny and entertaining guy
willie hoppe, willie mosconi - the old guys

just to name a few...

It would depend on the reason for doing the movie. If you want to get some public attention do Minnesota Fats. It would be a lot of BS but the public would eat it up and it may give a little boost to pool again. Me, I would like to see the Willie Hoppe. His is an interesting story.

A lot of those ring games would be "Pay ball" I saw Denny Searcy win like 60 to 80 thousand in one over a weeks time in Dayton around 1973.

How about Tim Roth as Keith and Jack Nicholson as Luther Lassiter?

For me, I would love to see a movie based on the life of Loree Jon Jones. She is one of the most amazing women in our sport.

I'd also watch a movie based on the life of my good friend Marissa Yi.

I could see Mark Walburg playing Kieth if we had to cast someone. He looks quite abit like a younger Kieth and I think he could nail the part in the acting department.
