Which Presidential Candidate Best For Pool

It's awfully interesting how we sit here and discuss pool all day yet when it comes to politics, other things quickly become more important. However, deep down, we know who we are, where are love truly rests.

Which Presidential Candidate do you think would best serve pool and why? As an interest group, what should be our concerns? How might they fit into what the candidates have already stated under their unique positions?

What issues might affect Players (professional & amateur)? Poolrooms? Billiard companies? Foreign players? Foreign companies? Gambling? Online Gambling?

Note: Go anywhere you want with this. This is strictly for entertainment purposes.

I will go ahead and get this out of the way.....

Fatboy for president....

There it is done...lets move on to the real replys...:D

I don't know if much can be done for the industry itself, but surely the candidates can help individual players who enjoy betting on games. I was disappointed when I got an email from Stan James notifying me that current and future bets wouldn't be honored due to (then) recently passed legislation. Per the Las Vegas Sun, here's a bit of info I found interesting. It's a summary of the Democratic candidate's position on online gambling (before Edwards dropped out of the race):

Clinton: Supports the industry's [American Gaming Association's] position: to study Internet gambling to see whether it can be fairly regulated so that individuals can safely participate in it and American businesses can compete in the international market.

Edwards: Opposes legalization, doubting it can be controlled.

Obama: Worries that the Internet is "a Wild West of illegal activity," supports a study of Internet gambling and supports regulation to address the worst abuses.

As a result of these positions, the Poker Players Alliance revised its grades of the candidates in regards to how favorable they are for internet poker players. Clinton was given a B, Obama a B-, and Edwards, understandably, was given an F

Hitlairy

Speaking to the BCA "I will put a pool table in every house" or whatever else you want to hear!! :D :D

Well, what about foreign policy and immigration? A lot of republicans are very concerned about visas and border control. Would it be good for pool if the Republicans decided to ban all Europeans from entering the country? I mean, I know it would put far less pressure on me when it came time to buying jeans but would it be good for pool?

I don't think their position is to ban all europeans from entering the country, or really anything remotely near that. It would be those without visas or passports. It would be difficult to really assess how any of them would effect pool as an industry given the topics we hear them speak on.

I do not think I could vote on a presidential candidate based on their effect on pool anyways.

I was actually joking. In fact, the whole purpose is to keep it light. It's Super Tuesday. I think it should be fun.

I think Obama is what we need right now in this country, after eight years of total garbage leadership! JMHO of course.

What is it you like about Obama, Jay?

Whoever gets elected will pay off who they owe favors to and get back to busines as usual. Shoot them all I say...in the head. Johnnyt

I really do not think this is an appropriate topic for this board! How they will effect pool is one thing, but who we should vote for is another. This not a political forum, and ones beliefs should not come into question, nor should comments regarding current or future leadership be a discussion topic. Save that for another place IMO!!

That right there is what's known is a federal crime. Good luck with that.

You left out one word, ILLEGAL.

In commercials that aired in the 1990's, Brusnwick said that Freddy Rooselvelt played on a Brunswick, so I'll have to say he would be my first choice.:D

(I know it's really "Teddy" but I remember when Archie Bunker called him "Freddy" and it's stuck with me since then....)

PS-I'm a registered Republican. Is anybody running from the Republic of the Phillipines?:)

Cross your fingers

I am a card carrying Libertarian. A Libertarian would be the only chance to leave the internet gambling alone. Rs and Ds are going to shut it down, ?For Our Own Good?. I know, no chance so we, including me, have to look at the lesser of the two evils and they are evil. Bush-43 has been the worst Republican president in my 60 years on earth. Carter, holds the record for worst of the Ds. All we can do is cross our fingers and hold our noses. Good luck to us all.
