I'm a gonna have to say high.
I'm a gonna have to say high.
I'm a gonna have to say high.
There is not to much in Columbus Ga, but there are a few monster barbox players and a super monster barbox player. Q-masters has strong players but thers are alot of strong players in the state of VA.
Florida is pretty strong, lots of top top players living here now.
I agree. Pretty much anywhere on the East Coast -- with concentrated pockets (if you'll forgive the pun) in certain areas of NY, NC, FL, GA, etc.
And, because the OP mentioned it and it's important to him -- specifically in the northeast US, it's big table country up here. Anywhere else in the country -- especially in the midwest -- then the definition of "strong player" takes on a different meaning, with "9-ball on bartables" entering the picture.
I agree with WestPoint and KoolKat -- NC seems to be a hotbed of really strong players.

Drop down to Southern California. Really strong players hang out there,
have you even been here??
1. Lutsen and about 15 others all over the state http://skicentral.com/minnesota.html
2. uhhh WHAT??? lakes are covered in trucks and houses for almost a month now.. and it didn't even really get cold until this week
3. we had 65 consecutive days over 80 and 35 consecutive days over 90 just this summer
4. see 3.. more bikes than cars on small state highways for 4 months a year..
and back on topic.. just about every small town has a pool league of 50 or more people.... and almost every county has a masters league with guys who play well enough to beat just about anyone on earth in a short set...
Are you talking bars with pool tables or actual halls?
Geez...where do we start...
#1...Let's just start with the ski resort that YOU mentioned...LUTSEN...one of the best in MN...only HALF the runs are open, ALL MAN MADE SNOW...NOTHING BUT ICE...UNSKIABLE BRO...don't know if you've ever ski'd but you'll get a fricken concussion trying to ski that crap!!!! That's not skiing...it's desperation...
Here's the comments from skiers this week at that ski resort...read it...

#2...Thin ice warnings issued in YOUR REGION ...2 WEEKS AGO...NOT SAFE...
http://www.wxow.com/story/20321327/2012/12/11/dnr-issues-thin-ice-warning
ALSO...let's take a look at what came up on PAGE ONE ALONE, on google...
Trucks falling thru all last winter...
NOV 4, feb 4, feb 9, mar 20, ...and this winter already, dec 7 in big lake mn, and FOUR DAYS AGO ON LAKE WINNEPEG , MN.
.............SMART CHOICE...GO ICE FISHING...IM STAYING HOME, LOL...
#3...90 days warm enough to do recreation...still leaves 275 cold and falling thru the ice. Where's my rabbit fur hat...
Ahhhh #4... 4 months a year use doesn't justify spending 20-60k for a motorcycle to me...and you know even during the 4 months, the nights are unbearable for at least one of those months.
.
I'm moving to San Diego in the spring. Not sure exactly where-looking around La Jolla, Mission Beach, few other places.
What are some must-go pool halls down there Mark? Who has regular tourneys? Always love action too of course..
I have spent most of my life in Alaska. I plan on retiring in a couple of years and driving around the rest of America. A friend lives in Michigan and there seems to be lots of players there. What other state is big on pool? I like a 9' table.
Let's see...CR BILLIARDS, Jimmy Wetches pool hall, university Billiards, biffs, ...just to name a few...all within 10 min of each other...all in ONE SUBURB of mpls. All with at least 20-30 tables each.
You said a pool hall in almost every city... Those are all on the northern end (and as you say all in one city). Southern end we have very few choices. Basically Shooters, Farmington billiards, and a bunch of bars. Hardly a hall in every town.
College billiards and OnCue billiards are the two players hangouts in San Diego. OnCue is in La Mesa, and I'm not sure what town College is officially in. College is owned by arguably the best 3 cushion player in the world, one of if not the best.
Louis Ulrich plays out of OnCue. There are many A level players that play out of San Diego but most rarely compete far away from home.

p.s. Let me know when you wanna play some and I'll come down.
