White Diamond

I am having the craziest problem with this white diamond tip staying on a J&J jump break. I usually use a locktite control gel and it seems to be good but within a few breaks it would come off. I thought the glue may be old so I got a brand new ultra control gel with impact resistance. I broke with it a few times at the house and took it with me to the league yesterday. I had everyone using it and it lasted 'almost' all day. About an hour before I was going to leave - BANG... Off again.
Could it have something to do with the white plastic ferrules on the J&J?
I had tried epoxy also...
Ideas?
Thanks!

Very much the possibility of a cheaper ferrule Bud because I have experienced the same problem, but not necessarily the only problem because you are not the first person to have a problem with a Diamond.

If you have any, I would try a tip pad first before changing out the ferrule.

I had a Mad Man tip come off my breaker. When I looked at it, I realized that even tho I prepped the tip with thin CA, it still wicked up enuff Gel to make it unstable.

Yet, I have never had a problem with using a Super Pro tip as a break tip.
Any that I have installed for others and myself have stayed on 100%.

Tip pad and score with a few hash marks and do the same with the tip. Thats one way.

It is just one of those things to experiment with and I am sure that you will get lots of other suggestions here after.

Good idea on the pad - I'll try that now.
You are correct on the Super Pro's, I have installed about a hundred of those (without problems ;-)

Thanks!

I would start with a wafer as well.
Sometimes they just pop.
What can you do :(

I talked to mr picone a couple years ago when I had this problem.... What he suggested to use is gorilla super glue with the rubber compound in it to resist side pressure as well as take a very small drill bit and drill 3 very shallow Nd small holes in the bottom of the tip so glue can get inside of it..... If anyone wants I can take a pic of it after the holes are there to see why I am talking about......

Since doing that I have installed plenty of them and not one has popped off

Seyberts

I bought a Players J/B from Seyberts and had them install a White Diamond tip. I usually play about 1-2 hours a night, so it gets used often. I've had it for about 3 months now and it's still attached.

I'd bet if you were to send an email to the good people at Seyberts, they may share their 'secret'.

Try this.... I have glued them on with west, RAKA, and 5 min epoxy.... none have popped off.

BTW... before I did this...... they all popped off no matter what I used for glue.

I absolutely love this tip... it breaks and jumps great.

Interesting design...but with a center ball hit you would be using the phenolic NOT the White Diamond.

I do like the small holes in the back idea...maybe a shorter center hole also? ie not a thru hole.

The center is almost flat so you don't get just the phenolic contacting the cue ball. The through hole keeps it from tiddley winking off on an off center hit.

It works just fine..
