Yeah the Asterisk idea is very good. Not like it matters but i guess it does give you some well deserved bragging rights :lol:

Whether you won or not wasn't the thread title, it's who you had the honor of playing. Please don't take away more than half my list :o. Besides, you are assuming all matches were rotation games if you're worried about races to 7 or higher, a number of my matches were one-pocket, races to 3. But I will say that all of my matches were 7 or higher in 3-cushion :grin:.

LOL! Thanks. I used to play pretty sporty 3-cushion and have had my share of success, but I do not play any more (no tables around). In pool, I have had my moments. I'm not a great player but I play well enough to beat a great player every once in a while in a short set and cash in tournaments. I just can't make any money at it :). One pocket is my pool game of choice.

Pool & 3-cushion has always been a fantastic hobby for me and I am grateful to have it in my life. oh yeah, my wife is OK too! :wink:

Billy was a quiet, unassuming kid who I taught what I knew about 8-ball in 1973. Six months later, he owned me on the felt. Mostly self-taught, he kept copious notes on countless shots as he experimented in private for a decade. One of his warm-up routines was placing a billiard ball on the center spot and, using a billiard ball as the CB, shoot the 11-foot straight-in to the opposite corner with dead stop. The only game I could beat him at was 3-cushion, - only because he had never played it at that time. We played on championship teams for some 13 years; Billy shot lead-off and I shot anchor on two MOMA State Champ teams and he shot anchor on the '86 VNEA national champ team. Few players I've seen could be counted on to run a crucial rack like Billy. Thought of by some as a kook, he would sometimes do a head-stand between matches to refresh his brain, and or wear a gold pyramid on his head before big $ competition! At 6-foot and 135 lbs., he was not physically intimidating but believe me, he was feared by all who played him or saw him play. He had not yet reached his prime when he passed away in his early thirties, some say of a broken heart.

Loree Jon and Sammy - Greenville SC's "Gametime" - as a surprise birthday gift from my wife after she learned their residence was about one nautical mile away from our own.

But also played a bit on holidays at their house. She had a GCIII at the time. Sammy found a buyer for it at some point, and then they had an Olheusen. I could beat Sammy, but ONLY when he was distracted watching golf on TV! Came close to LJ, but like someone else stated very well, "once you miss, they get to shoot", and then it's a lesson in how much you retain from watching.

I never won a tournament in SF but i can say that i beat Palmer even up :cool:

Tobias is the great Austrian straight pool champion tha lived in SF aswell. One day i was practice next to his table and boy i was shooting the lights out!!! Out of the corner of my eye i saw him watching me intently. So after he was done with his game he ask if i wanted to played and i said RACK EM!!!!! Of course we were playing HIS game. At one point i was up 95-38 and i missed a cut shot in the side. He miss a straight in shot so i deposited 7 more and missed again. Then he stepped up and ran 112 and out :lol: I thought a 150-102 loss was pretty good. Especially when i had two big runs of 40+ balls :cool: That and he a very pleasant man all around.

Tom Rossman came to my hall one night while he was on his little tour. He was there to see the owner of the place but he wasnt around. I asked Tom if he wanted a table and he ask if i wanted to play. Like i was gonna no :rolleyes: :lol: We played for about 4 straight hours and boy did i get my butt kick. 9-1,9-3, 9-4 Once i had him held pretty tight on the 3 ball. He shoots to the head rail and jumps it off the rail up and over the group of balls i had him pinned on (mind you he was pretty jacked up) clips the 3 in the MIDDLE of the table and neatly makes it into the side and gets perfect shape for the rest of the rack. He wife leans over and say...."He couldnt do it again if he tried." :lol:

Mike Massey i played one rack with for a charity in Vegas. I broke the rack open wide and had an out and i missed cued and that was that. :mad: Fricking Desert!!!!

I think the trick shot guys are the classest gentlemen in pool these days. I find myself very lucky to have played these great players. They did make me the player i am today.
