JCIN- I am one up on you here because whoever this Tony is cares a lot of what my opinion of him means. In fact, he also thinks that the rep points on this site actually mean a damn thing. He gave me negative rep because he thought it meant something to me. Can I cash in these rep points? On the flip side, when I left him negative rep because I knew it was so precious to him I received the following private message titled Classy Guy. I am still trying to figure out how someone that starts a thread giving the 7 reasons why he has dumped someone can even begin to rate anyone else as classy or not. Here is the private message & my reply, oh and now his reply again. It took me about 5 minutes but I already own Tony. By the way Tony, you couldn't breath the air I gamble in every day.

I stated in the very beginning that this was a controversial thread..This was not meant for the virgin ears(sorry if that included you)..But in order to grasp my points,you would need to have an open mind(I could insult you here but I won't).What you must understand is that this was my idea and my perception of right when it came to my experiences in the box .....

Judging by your tone you probably don't even gamble ..You are probably a wannabe with about 250 Accustats tapes/cd's ..I'm wasting my time.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought we were in for some good old fashioned toilet humour! I'm very disappointed.:(

As to the dumping question, no I wouldn't. If someone has enough faith in my game to stake me then I'm damned sure going to do my best to repay that trust. I have never dumped a game, and have yet to meet anyone foolish enough to call me a liar to my face. Especially not an AZB "newbie":rolleyes:

I'm actually kind of sad to read this thread. After the way another WF thread went recently & then he seemed to have chilled somewhat I really thought we might have a good guy here, a little abrasive perhaps but entertaining. Now Dr. Jekyll has gone again & we're back to Mr. Hyde! :(

A shame really.

I guess the best way to approach this is with a history lesson.

I've been playing for 45 yrs. of my life. I started playing when I was 12. Starting gambling when I was 16. In my early thirties, I spent three years out on the road and made a good living from it.

After the road, I managed, built and owned pool rooms for 20 years.

Five years ago, my partner and I started a regional tour and it has been successful.

Over the years, I've only been staked maybe 20 times. I always preferred playing on my own nickel.

I have had a few occasions over the years been asked to chop someone up. The standard answer has always been and always will be, "Nope, I don't do that and don't bring it up again."

Not once in 45 years have I dumped or been accused of dumping.

End of story, it's taken a long time to get the reputation I have in this sport.

Walt, if that makes me a choir boy, then, doe, ray, mi, fa............I think you get it.

I just don't think I could ever get over dumping someone, I hope I never need the money that bad, but it is all about life, if you dump someone, mostly likely you do other underhanded things as well, you have to look at the whole picture. Once you did it, it would probably be hard to stop and never do it again.
 
There is a guy in my pool room who gambled fairly high on a regular basis. He is really not well liked because...well...he used to be pretty much a degenerate "cheating" gambler in the past (he's actually been a lot better in his old age), and I used to not like him...but we get along pretty good now. He will still attempt to pull some of his sharking stunts, but I haven't seen or heard of him attempting to cheat in quite some time.

Anyhow, he offered to back me against this other player for a healthy sum. The other player pulled me to the side and said, "Lets take him down." I told him, that as much as I didn't like the guy (this was kind of before I became more friendly with him) and would love to make the kind of money we could have made....I would *never* do that. There is nothing better than winning the honest way!

Pool players are very disappointing though. I hardly know any good players who haven't done business. It is really depressing - but this is ALL these guys do, and I guess sometimes they feel they don't have a choice. It is just one of those things that come with being a full time player. Choices these guys have to make and live with.
