Who else wants to know why I dumped ?

think you nailed it

Although, I don't really believe you are serious about having dumped people multiple times. I think you are just throwing this out there to stir up s**t, and will end up saying "I was just kidding, I don't really dump, I just wanted to see what people honestly thought of dumpers."

Russ,

According to my line on how "walt, tony green, _ _," plays, nobody would back him if he was trying to hustle lunch money from a ten year old. My bet is this thread is BS. He may have been dumped for small change but I doubt seriously he has ever been the one doing the dumping.

And, A Couple Of Bites Of His Cheeseburger.......

I've never dumped, but I must honestly state that I HAVE eaten my opponents french fries while he was at the table.
Doug
( and his dill pickle slice )

oh, and his beer and the beer of anyone else left unguarded..... :)

that's cold!!!

I'm seriously considering slapping you with some bad rep! Their dill pickle slice? That's just wrong!!

(everyone should know that fries are fair game if they turn their back)

when i was a C player i dumped a guy once, it was the stupidest thing I ever did. I never did it again, to this day when I think about it I am embarassed about it, it was small $$$ something like $80, but I learned a lesson. I did it after I was playing for a year and half, for the next 10 years I was in action the thought never crossed my mind. It ruins a players reputation for life, in my case there still is no excuse for it but I did it when I was very young for chump change and learned my lession still dosent make it right.

As I figured .I have had no players post on this thread yet .Just a bunch of no playing choir boys .

Pleeeeeeeez ,spare me the "moral" and "ethical" talk .Unless you are a card carrying sucker(which apparently a few of you are) it's all about looking after your own wallet ..

Let's get one thing straight ..I don't make a "practice" of doing this and like I said from the beginning, that this would be a controversial thread and I knew quite a few of you would disagree with me .

What I stated is my own beliefs .Tony Green looks after Tony Green .I've been in situations where I knew I was getting chopped up but I chalked it up to the game .So don't act like I'm such a bad guy AZ.I'm just the only guy on here with the Nads to admit that he's got a little dirt on him(so far). But I have a feeling that a player will chime in and relate to my point of view....somewhat.

Good Shooting
Tony

This post is a good reason not to back anyone. It appears as if there will always be a reason for the dump.

Why would a player would agree to the terms and then get upset about it. If a player is not willing to risk his own money than he should be happy to get any amount and not complain.

I challenge all members of AZ Billiards to admit that you have done business before ..

If anybody says that they have never done any business, they are a liar!!

YOU ARE FLAT OUT WRONG. I've never dumped a person in my life and never will.

I've been asked to dump people all my life. It just hasn't been something I am willing to do.

Once when I was 18 years old, a man (stranger) came into the local pool hall, N& N pool hall on Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans. He was watching me hit balls and he hears Moose (Brian Broussard) bellowing well, like a Moose. Moose was a couple of years older than me and played about the 8 ball better than me, maybe only the last two. Back then neither one of us could run a rack.:p

The stranger says, can you play this loud mouth for money if I stake you. I told him the truth and that it would be a really tough match and explained that Moose was a little better than I was. Back then we didn't give up weight very often and so the guy asked me to play Moose for $20 a game 9 ball. I struggled to stay even with Moose for about an hour. Moose whispers to me, "Why are you trying so hard? Let me win and I will give you a share. I told him I couldn't do it. The short story: We kept raising the bet and the guy kept paying off and then my first stake horse finally gave up. I felt terrible for him but did the best I could. Moose went out and bought a new car with his winnings the next day. True story. I had to live all these years with knowing I lost a ton of money and always wondered why a stranger chose me, another stranger to play such high stakes pool with someone that I knew I would have a VERY hard time beating. Moose is a retired firefighter and loves to tell the story til today. I wish he had the balls to gamble with me now. :)

I've been asked at least several times to dump a person in my life and simply refused and said that's not what I do. I might lose but you can't find anyone who says I dumped.

I'm sorry you admitted to dumping, Walt. I would have preferred not knowing. :(

This may be a controversial thread, and I may step on a few peoples toes, but oh well..

Is there ever a good reason to dump a backer? ..Or chop up another player?

Maybe/Maybe Not

Think about this for a moment...Usually the guy that gets dumped is~~~~~~~~

1.a jerk and an overbearing a-hole
2.an obnoxious slob that can't make two balls in a row,but he feels the need to offer his two cents about your shot selection.
3.a suspect character that would just as soon trap you by going in halfs with you in the box with a guy that you've got no chance against meanwhile he's betting against you on the rail getting odds on the money
4.a double steer(if you've been around you know what that means)
5.a two bit nit that flashes a wad of cash but won't put any of it in action unless he's getting paid on both ends ..
6.a guy that want's to high-roll your player(after it's obvious you've got the best of it) pissing him off in the process and killing your action.
7.a guy that want's 70/30 (or worse) Now,I'm not talking about a guy that takes you on the road(or put you in tourneys) and eats all of your expenses, that's different.

Before you ask me ,yes I have dumped a backer before ,but he fit the desription above and he had it coming .

Good Shooting
Tony

Sometimes, this entire situation can be reversed, and the player fits the describtion above. Sometimes people are also permently disfigured or even terminated for doing these things.

So, I think you are full of it, and if you are not full of it, you do not need a backer, you need a brain transplant:eek::cool: , because after this you will never get anyone to back you again!!!!!! Unless of course they are from another planet!!!!!

Good Luck-----

How typical of you Matlock .

Tony ...just so I'm clear (everyone else for that matter I guess)...what are we talking about exactly?

Dumping games in a staked set so your backer will quit you?

Or betting and playing without your stake's interest in mind even though its his dime?

Why not just call it off?

You know what.

I know enough players, and know that the state of pool SUCKS, and has sucked for quite a long time.

Having said that, i know lots of guys that "PLAY" that figure they are entitled to do business as they feel they should get paid for their efforts regardless of who might get the shaft in the process, and many guys i know, take that "hustler" mentality literally. If they can con a dime out of someones pockets, they are all over it.

I have never dumped a backer, but then again, i play on my own dime and have been backed maybe like 3 times in 18 years.

I HAVE gotten so fed up with the retard who bought me in the calcutta though, who then proceeded to bother the crap out of me in all my matches that i just bailed on the tournament and went and matched up with someone.

F that guy!
