She was before my time, but it's my understanding that Jean Balukas was in a league of her own and is widely acknowledged as the most dominating Woman player of all time, especially in 14.1 .
If there was anyone who could be a legit challenge to her dominance it would be Allison Fisher, but like the great boxers from different eras, we would need a time machine to ever truly know.

I wonder if one of the Taiwanese women is better than Jasmin. I went to Taipei a couple of times, and people play straight pool there like we play 9 ball here. Everyone plays it. I'd bet the top Taiwanese women are very familiar with it, there are just no competitions for them to show us.

Jasmin is not in the conversation in nine ball but is top four ever in 14.1, along with Jean Balukas, Ruth McGuinness and Jeanette Lee. Jasmin is surely the best at 14.1 today, as her dominance at the European Championships has shown.

The 9-ball best players today are Han Yu and Siming Chen and it's just about too close to call which is the better of the two. Their title counts do not allow them to be compared to Jean Balukas or Allison Fisher quite yet, but their skills are comparable to these legends of the game.

A bit of thread hijack but I think Sha Sha Liu's name belongs up there with these two gals ... all from mainland China.

I agree, Sha Sha belongs, but just like the men...not many of the yonng play 14.1 anymore. Put up 10k and give players like Cheska a practice table for 2 weeks and a bunch of them will run some 100's...no sweat. Johnnyt

Agreed that Sha Sha Liu is an amazing player, I rate her just a little below the other two. Of course, it's a matter of opinion, but when the biggest titles are in play, Han Yu and Siming Chen have a slightly better track record than Sha Sha Liu.

Mainland China sure has produced some fantastic players!

Jasmin's 3rd at the 2008 TRUE World Championship won by Neil's Feijen leaves little doubt concerning the answer to your question.

I was there and she hit center pocket 95% of the time before the semis.
