I would like to know who is going to Houston?

Does anyone know anything about hotels in that area?

Thank you.

Richard

Houston Hotel

There's a Super 8 about 50 yds from the pool room. 281-338-0800 is the number. Hope this helps.

Stay at the hotel attached to the convention center Hyatt I believe. We are going to pass on the show this year we may do Baltimore though.

I would have like to go to see Earl inducted, but I'll be travelling then.

For those of you who will be there, be sure to catch Semih Sayginer on the Gabriels carom table. He makes shots that seem impossible. Also, be sure to ask him to show you some balkline/straight rail. It's amazing that he can have the power for an 11-cushion shot and then nurse the balls along the rail with the same arm.

I live in Houston, and I would love to go to this, but the website says it is for merchants only. Anybody have any idea how I could get in?

You might try calling up some of the vendors and volunteering your services. Still, unless you have at least some common acquaintances, it's probably not gonna work and there may be much easier ways like going with or representing the owner of your poolroom.

You just need to find a someone that is going already and be with them when they check in with a business license and business cards and the registration fee. I thought it was like $95.00? Could be wrong. You wont be able to buy anything though. Must have company checks usually. But that may have changed. I know they usually will not let you leave with any cues. The dealers have to leave with them. Good luck..hope you have fun.

I figure this is the perfect place to post about the 1 Pocket/ 9-Ball events that will be going on the week of the Expo in Houston. The guys running it are the same guys that run the Fast Eddie's tour I believe. This is the last info I was told so if you're gonna be in town...

One pocket is the 6th and 7th,(Thursday and Friday), $100 entry and $15 dollar green fee, 9-ball is the 8th and 9th(Saturday and Sunday) $75 dollar entry and $15 dollar green fee, womens 9-ball is the 8th and 9th, 35 dollar entry and 10 dollar green fee. The bca trade show is here in Houston that same weekend so needless to say some of the top pro's will be in town.

I stand corrected.

that won't work

You have to be pre-registered, and pick up your name badge, by showing a picture ID. You can't just walk in, regardless of what you're wearing. BTW, just about NOBODY wears anything but casual clothes at these shows.

Craig...Unless something changed last year (I missed the last show), anybody can pay cash, or use a credit card, to buy anything they want to...and ANYBODY can leave with cues that they have purchased, as long as you have a receipt (if you're challenged...but not likely). Hundreds of people are walking around the show floor with cues & cases anyway.

Staying at the connected hotel (Hilton or Hyatt).

I'll probably make the HOF induction to. I can't wait to see the look on Earl's face when they tell him it was just an April Fools joke.......lol

We are staying at the Club Quarters just down the block. You have to sign up through Expedia or one of the internet reservation places. No reservations over the phone. Looks like a nice upscale place. About $100 a night.
