Who is the best 1 pocket teacher?

Who's the best....... None of them. Combined they are all the best. Take some lessons from all of them, but only if you have solid fundamentals. If your not a solid player start with Mark Wilson or another instructor that can really help your game. Then go see several of those 1P champions and a few books and tapes.

I like this post.....good players can have separate view points that can all have validity.

I must confess that I'm a bit biased for Danny, an old and loyal friend.

It's like "One Eyed Tony" telling me I have no clue about how many eyes he has.....or "Fat Ralph" telling me I have no clue about his weight.....or "Black Sam" claiming he doesn't understand how anyone can know his skin color.....or "Lizard" wondering why people have a clue he's a bit "reptilian" - LoL

The "inside scoop" is that Danny D. is a top notch one pocket coach/instructor/teacher.....like it or "lump it," it's the truth, and the Truth will get you out of a lot of traps, even if you're frozen to TWO balls, like the guy they refer to below.

Actually Lou, CJ just didn't know that Wayne was responding to and referring to me in that post so he made his snide comment about "Loucifer" either because he can't spell or he can't read.

I thought I got by unnoticed. Yes i do think learning from others is very important. I have always bought books, (SMS-WOP), videos (instructional), and obtain as much information as possible. I was tipped off early on to the value of studying Accu-Stats matches, having hundreds of VHS (now converted to DVD). However the current players have taken the game more aggressive. Power One Pocket- Scott Frost is a good one.

When I was young I received allot of advice from a very good player. I ran the clock and held $ and witnessed the action, generally one pocket. I would invest in lessons from several people mentioned in this thread. However, one problem, once uyou are up against someone better, someone who really knows the game, you are stuck without a shot and it becomes so frustrating you can not execute or put to use what you know and have learned. So do not expect results without experience playing "up a ladder".

Think of tennis. You can not play tennis without someone equal and preferable a little better. Too weak and it is not fun. Too strong and you are blown off the court.

While your statement about tennis is generally correct, tennis is actually an entirely different animal than pool. Pool is more similar to golf where the object (ball) you are striking is always stationary, and not in "unique motion" each time you strike it, whereas tennis is more similar to baseball, whereas you are reacting to a ball struck, or thrown, in a way that is unique to each individual person and/or situation.

The idea of getting "match tough" does, in fact, apply to both.

I am not talking about the fundamentals of the shots. I am saying in one pocket and in tennis, you need to play with someone of equal or slightly better skill to best improve. Dominating a weaker player does nothing for your game. Trying to play someone significantly better, like a Frost etc, you will get blown out and not improve. This should be more clear.
 
Pack your bags and head to Arizona. Scott Frost still has a lot of gas left and has a proven track record of teaching. Let the flaming begin.....
