?? Not sure if he is from philly, but looks the part!
Not sure about his 1p game either, but his 9b one had a bit of dog in it...right there at the end.

... and raised and learn to play in Oh.
Allentown is nowhere near Philadelphia, perhaps 70 miles away.
Mizerak came from Perth Amboy, NJ, about 75 miles from Philadelphia, but only a half hour drive from NYC.
Hopkins came from Cranford, NJ, over 80 miles from Philadelphia, but only about 20-25 miles from NYC.
This is just wrong.
While he is true he was born in California, BEFORE he moved out to Ohio and started hanging with Dee, he was a raised in the burbs of Philly.
He didn't head out to Ohio till later.
Really looks like Jimmy Lawless.
He moved in with Dee's family in Ohio when he was 14. He could play good when he came here, but trust me, Ohio is where he became a champion.
Um.
You need to adjust your timeline.
He didn't start playing pool till he was 13 or 14. It wasn't till a couple of years later that he started going to Ohio.
This part is a little off.
The first time I played corey was at Pete Sinklers room at a tounament. I was 15 and Corey was 12 and he could already play a little. He did start late though compared to some as did I. Think we had both only been playing for a year and a half or so at this point.
Second time I played Corey we gambled and it was in a room somewhere just outside of philly. We were there looking for action and I got a call at the poolroom and it was Corey looking to play.
I was around 17 or 18 then and he was around 15 or 16. By this time he was basically just short of champion speed.
Agreed you def can't forget his Philly roots.
He did not start playing pool at 10 1/2 or 11 to make him be able to play a little by 12.
If anything, he WAS small, for a long time before he finally sprouted.
Everyone got his age wrong.
Everyone.
He might have started several months before we played. I had only been playing for a little over a year at the time. Young good players get good fast.
I know for a fact how old I was the first time I played him though. I turned 37 in October and Was 15 then.I thought he was 3 years younger. How old is Corey now and do the math.

corey comes to drexeline to spend time with his friends there when he is in town and is very nice guy who will show ya stuff !
Just to let ya in on how good a stroke he has?
September passing thru area !
I watched him set up cueball in corner pocket, put object ball in opposite far corner pocket, and using a jacked up house cue drew the cueball back 2 rails .
now that is a stroke!
dont believe it, his drexeline buddies were recording it on their cell phone!
Um.

He actually shuttled back and forth, leaving for months at a time, and hanging out with Dee, before coming back home, and heading off to other places like Texas, Hawaii, and Florida, etc.
Sure, he lived with Dee while he was out there, but it wasn't till later that he settled out there for good.
But for someone to completely eliminate Philly and its influences such as Jimmy Caras on the boy's upbringing, is just totally wrong.
I'm not discounting anything about Philly or Caras' influence on him.... But I've known Cory since 93, know for a fact that he was living Wait.... I'll just text Dee.... Wait for it. Wait. Wait. Dee says 13. Guess we were both wrong, but imagine that, I'm more right.
But it's easy to see how others might want to, and just say that's what Dee said.![]()
