You can have all the big ones...I'll take all the regular and smalls over here:eek:

I like wider butts too . . .

. . . probably something to do with being half Italian.

I started playing when butts were quite a bit thicker and I still think the sticks are easier to play with. The problem is that with today's cloth and rails a lighter weight cue seems to be the best for ball control. I'm scratching my head right now trying to figure out if there is any practical way to build a cue with a 1-1/4" to 1-3/8" handle area and keep the weight around 17-19 ounces. Could be that Earl and his wraps, gloves, and such isn't all that crazy after all.

Here's some Cuemakers for you ...

Steve Kornele, Tim Prince, and Crown Cues build their cues with the old, thicker butt ... If you really like "thick", buy an old Willie Hoppe Titleist ... Most of today's cuemakers are set up to build the thinner cues with a less radical taper than the old ones ... You can also find Original Palmer Cues on eBay quite regularly if you want a Vintage Cue with a thick butt ...

thats interesting.
my wife(a nurse)thought that he might be developing carpal tunnel or some other disorder that causes discomfort when gripping a smaller diameter butt.

I like a somewhat Larger Diameter Butt on my Cue, Other wise as long as you dont need a WIDE LOAD sticker big butts are cool, but not a nessesity. not for me anyhow.

I played with a Cadillac Joe cue that was way thick! the owner Lou Johnson from Delaware ordered it that way. He had gynormous hands and said he liked the Cadillac Joe better than his thinner Balabushka!

Wait, are we talking about...

Nah, it doesn't matter what we're talking about; my answer is the same: I also prefer the feel of the thicker ones.
