Who Made this Cue... Bushka style cue for sale!!

I don't know... Thats a good point, but his negative feedback was as a buyer not a seller... one of them the seller didnt want to send outside of US... and the other the guy thought Shipping price to Australia was a rip off. So he didnt send payment.

Its kinda hard to bid on something that will probably go for 2,000 - 3,000 or more when the guy has a (3) ebay rating...

I talked to this guy early in the auction, and he said he would have sold it outright for $1,300. I figure that no matter what it turns out to be, it would be worth that, but I just had some problems sending a guy that kind of money with him being in Singapore and the cue being in Australia, and then having the low rating to top it off. I will no doubt kick myself in the ass one of these days when I hear the story of the Balabushka that I could have bought for $1,300, but sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling...

I Have A Strong Feeling It's A Palmer. Everything About The Cue Is Very Palmer Like. With What The Bidding Is At Now, Someone Is Paying To Much For A Palmer And Taking A Big Chance Sending The Payment To This Guy. I Don't Trust It.

I also think it's a Palmer #3 (1st catalog) butt with a #5 forearm. I noticed someone else thought so and asked the question, along with a request to see a pic of the weight bolt. That question is no longer "visible", and no more pics were added of the bolt... What do you think Chris (Palmer Collector)?

Palmer made a lot of custom or special order cues throughout the time they were in business (this is especially true in the 60s and 70s). This cue might be one of them.

playing stupid

Its a palmer # 3 with extra inlays in the points wich was common to add to the cues then and now!
he is also playing stupid and said he has a szamboti with the same points!! most begginers dont have szambotis!! or may be iam wrong I have been before!Bill

This Cue was pulled from ebay... I think he started to believe the guys who sent him questions saying it might be a Gus or Bushka... He was getting a pretty good price for a palmer if that was what it is.

Actually, when you get pulled from an Ebay auction, it's not the seller ending the auction early. That's generally done with the "auction ended early because the item is no longer for sale" type of verbage. What we're seeing is probably a result of someone asking Ebay to investigate a problem seller... Real glad I didn't bid on this one!

Bidding is OK ... as long as you didn't win :D

I missed this thread since I was in Hawaii. There was another thread about this too in the main section. Like you I figured it was a fraud auction, either copycat or ID theft. Maybe the E-Bay regulars figured it out too.

The butt cap looked like it was re-made to me, not unusual in itself because a lot of them cracked. Because of that, it kind of made me wonder about the rest of the cue. If it were a Palmer, it was a Model 3 first catalog made on an Ebony titleist forearm with extra inlays. Joe pointed out, and I think correctly, that this cue was made at a later date with some old and some newer parts. The joint screw was made later than the the butt sleeve and the forearm inlay pattern was even later. The MOP dots on one side of the design looked too large to me. It's possible the forearm inlays were added later.

I too wondered why the bidding got up there. I also wondered if it were an Adam or a GB cue altered to look like a Palmer. It was also wierd they would pick an unusual cue like this to run a fraudulent auction.

I had the feeling it was him or a friend that was sending in the questions. Just seemed to me there were too many times someone said it could be worth 10000.
.

Yea I started thinking the exact same thing... Actually you know what... I sent the seller a link to "The Palmer Collector"s Site and he replied to me "Thanx buddy" Not sure if he meant it or was sarcastic, but the cue fell off the site shortly after...

Some of these sellers are referring to my site, which is fine, but then the buyers think it's me selling the cue.

I am going to keep my site as strictly information only to help other collectors ID cues. I still have a lot to learn. I just received an e-mail from Barry Szamboti and he told me that his dad did the leather wraps for Palmer into the early 1980's. He has receipts etc. I noticed an original one I had on a model "J" and Barry said he thought his dad did it.

I've been asked a lot about values and I try to give a pretty fair "auction value" range just based on my experiences. Dealer prices will be maybe 20% - 30% higher, but hopefully you are also you are getting someone who knows what they're doing looking at the cue.

I think the cue, well documented and if original in good shape, would have brought in at least $1200 on auction value alone, and a dealer would have been asking about $1700 for it.
