Who Makes The Best Low Deflection Shaft?

Was just wondering what your opinion on the shafts out there today i tried a ob1 and it was a huge change but couldn't control anything the way i wanted to.Never tried a predator or tiger x but i was wondering your opinions on which is the best without getting massive overspin. Thanks Everyone
 
the term "BEST" is too subjective.

some people like the overspin..so the best shaft is one with overspin.
some like it whippy etc.

your best bet in answering your question is individually looking up each brand using the search button. you will not get a best or worst answer but you will find reviews. using those reviews you can decide which shafts have the properties you're looking for.
 
My best game comes from an OB1. Hands down. If I could, I'd buy an OB2 in a heartbeat.

Of the few I've played with, I'd go from best to worst, in terms of feel over deflective qualities:

1. 2nd Gen 314
2. Tiger X
3. Z shaft
4. Z2 shaft
5. 314-2
6. Meucci Black dot (dunno if this is really LD though)

and the list goes on.

seems like everyone is making low deflection shafts now adays. I like the Mezz shafts. if you get a chance it wouldn't hurt to try them out.

Seems like mezz has got all kinds of shafts. Which one is a LD one? Or are they all the same?
 
While we are rehashing the SOS again, let's also bring in the old point of the fact that the term "low deflection" refers to the cue ball, not the shaft. These shafts are really high deflection shafts resulting in low deflection on the cue ball

That should keep it going for a while.

You do!!!!!!!!

everyone brags about buying a pro taper... which results in less end mass....


what they don't tell you is the reason it's called a pro taper... is because it is how a pro's FIRST cue ends up... they start with a standard taper and fine grit sand paper.... and shoot balls till it feels sticky scrub off the chalk...

rinse and repeat.. and suddenly the guy with the "pro taper" can play... now the shaft breaks or is too thin and the cue maker matches as best they can that taper with the best wood they have...


you reduce the delection yourself.. as you play with your cue..... if you are REALLY good...


if it were me a few years ago I would advise you to buy a stroke... and let the cues fall where they may....

MAKE your shaft low deflection!!!!!
 
I don't know if low deflection shafts really make you player better...without a stroke nothing will help. I do know I love the feel of my ob1 shaft and wouldn't trade it for anything and hated the taper and feel of the predator. It's all personal taste.
 
Biased opinoin coming, and completely un-backed by any information whatsoever...

But the Universal Smartshaft. Anyone else agree with me here?
 
WTF is massive overspin?

I llike Predator Z2. I didn't like OB1. The feel of the hit was toooo soft. Never could get a 'click'.... got more like a 'thud'... a 'bump'.

hp2.wd700, and alpha are all low deflection shafts. at least that's my understanding

It seems to me that the majority here seems to shun production work for "custom" work...

Except, that is, for this repeated topic. Sure is a shame that custom cuemakers have yet to tap this market.

mike webb and jack madden have. so have a couple of makers that live in the PI.
 
Try a shaft with a modified Euro taper. The sweeping taper stiffens the shaft and diminishes deflection. Combine the taper with a sectional shaft to increase the effect.
