Who Should Get A "Pro Player" Banner?

As usual CJ, your "know everything" attitude fails you. Shane has posted here on a number of occasions. He, of course, doesn't feel the need to brag...but he could kick your ass up and down at any game.

This is quite condescending coming from somebody who has never won anything that I am aware of. Other than your "credentials" that hang on the wall, what tournaments have you won?

If you ever come to Hawaii, you can take some of my money. And not in lessons.

And this is from a nobody who ain't a pro and who ain't a pool teacher.

Aloha.

Jesse bowman/action420 has not posted in years.

Little Joe Villalpando -camel pro tour days- is a registered member but has never posted.
Little joes exwife was a pro player as well and I believe she has posted here but I don't know her registered name.

I'm sure there is many more.

I pointed out CJ's "assumption" as wrong...which it is. If that bugs you, too bad. I got 3rd in a national tournament...my best finish. My "credentials" as an instructor are beyond your comprehension...and my students speak for themselves. Send me a round trip plane ticket and I'll be quite happy to come to Hawaii! You wouldn't know a good instructor if you saw one. There are many great pro players who can't teach a lick...and many fantastic instructors who have never won any tournaments. Pretty sure Jerry Briesath never won a pro tournament, but he has the respect of a ton of pro players who learned from him...not to mention starting professional instruction in this country 40 years ago.

Bill Meacham was on a Mosconi Cup team? I wasn't aware of that. When was it?

I believe it was 85 or 86 in Germany. I can't remember all the exact details, I think the team was him, Danny Diliberto, Mike Massey, Howard Vickery, and Jimmy Reid, I'm not sure of all these names though. I'm sure someone will correct me. Bills got pictures, maybe he will share them. John

That must have been something else. There was no Mosconi Cup in the 80's.

A thread with over 100 posts about who needs a certain banner under their name? We have officially ran out of stuff to talk about.

You're right! I apologize to AZB for starting this thread.

My ulterior motive was to ask for a labeling system like other forums use for the members. Instead of registered member, etc., we could be assigned monikers like newb, nit, or even wannabe. Banger has a nice ring to it, as does rack boy.

That would stop all the pissing matches because each member would know the pecking order. Nobody would pay any attention to your posts say for example, if you were a rack boy...which is worse than newb. Because newbs might get better, but you've been playing for awhile and suck.

This stuff is easy if you just think about it!

Best,
Mike

Yep,

Ya know Mik, that's not a half bad idea. Just as kind of a joke, not that they have to mean anything.

Ice Shanty.com. USA and Canada Ice Fishing. I can't remember what my current status is, but they also hang a title on you, depending on the number of posts. Could be a fun thing.

If a Pro is a member but doesn't or hasn't posted in a long time, it hardly matters that they have a Banner and I doubt they would care.

It would be a nice Tribute to those who do drop in on occasion.

CJ, I don't care whether it's BCA HOF or what, if SJ has been honored as a member, he either deserves a Special HOF Banner, (Preferably Blue, of course) or a Pro Banner. He is a regular poster. Have you been honored as a 1 Pocket Player?
It's not up to you to decide who is a Pro or not. Are all the tournaments that you have said that you play in Pro Tourneys, or are you including the week night tourneys at Volcano's in there as well?

I am happy that John B got one. His UTube Video Trailer for his Banking DVD, has more tips and free instruction in it than all of CJ's shared videos, (as he calls them),
put together.

You mean like this one, direct from your Hero.

I know he has a rep as a top player 30 to 40 years ago...did he ever play in any tournaments? Win any? He's too busy telling us how self deprecating he is to fill us in on his tournament wins.
I'm curious about that too.

If this is the case, I think that CJ's Banner should read, "Retired Pro Player".

It takes emotional maturity to be a Pro Player.
You have to be in control of your emotions. You can't let yourself get angry at the nits, knockers and haters. You must realize that what they say about a Pro Player is what they really think of themselves. It's called projection, and a Pro Player must ignore it.

I agree. Specially those who act like a recalcitrant little 12 year old, destroying others Threads to the point of where an Industry Leader calls them an A Hole.

San Jose Dick at one time was the best player in Arizona and one of the top one pocket players in the country. He is in the one pocket hall of fame because he played just under by a ball or so to Ronnie Allen. In his day there weren't many tournaments but you can see an Accu-Stats video of him beating Cliff Joyner in a major one pocket event, Cliff in his prime and Dick in his 60's. Definitely worthy of the Pro Player tag without question but not everyone knows the old time guys like him. Here are some videos to get you guys up to speed if you get bored.

P.S. Spoiler Alert! Dick did beat Cliff Joyner in that Accu-Stats match btw.

i just read this thread. if it weren't for KK9, i wouldn't have had a clue about some posters' histories & accomplishments. that info, helped give me a better understanding at times, about their posts & merits. (SJD is a prime example when he was going head-to-head w/ CJ about 1P.)

infact, in reading this i have learned even more about some posters. albeit SJM almost gave me a heart attack about KY BOY/BRUMBACK! (thanks SAW - it was short-lived)

while this is an open forum & everyone should be able to hang, it does help to know at times (especially for the newbies) who you're talking to.
