Who will win Archer / Strickland Match?

Earl is indeed a great shot maker but Archer's no slouch either. As for the pockets these tight favoring Earl - from what I've heard of Archer's private table these pockets should be right in his sweet spot.

Should be interesting.

My prediction for what it's worth is that this match will be the complete opposite of what we saw last week. Once again I'll take Johnny here, the window is open.

I don't think I'm on any list Jay but I would be willing to bet $50 on Earl.
PM me how to set it up. Thanks.

Johnny's not going to lose to Earl, at least on regular equipment; Earl will have to beat him. They'll probably both shark each others brains out. Johnny's pace will drive Earl up the wall and Earl's ability to create a surreal Hunter S Thompson environment will unsettle...well anybody.

Johnny won't be able to play at a slow pace, there's a 30 second shot clock for this match. I would say that alone gives Earl a big edge.

The one who gets to a 100 first, I expect the winner will speak with a bit of a Souhern drawl and be a real str8t shooter.

J plays tons better when not in a stall mode

I don't disagree with this but I think the point being made is that being able to slow play Earl is one of the best sharking tools Archer could use against him and it won't be available. Slow play makes Strickland climb the walls. In a slow match Archer's game probably doesn't fall off as much as Earl's does.

"this guy over here with his sandwich,"
,"you couldnt wait until after i shot to stuff your face ",,
"jesus you must be starving" .. Lmao

GR8 point+++:)

Good cause I would like to see Earl win this one. Nothing against Johhny other then he gets up and down and up and down over a shot then takes a walk around and does it again. And there cant be that much lint or everyone else would be pickin it off also

I think the 30 second shot clock hurts Earl more than JA. Earl was the one stalling playing SVB. He kept staring down people and giving lectures. If he does that during this match he's will have to rush his shots to beat the shot clock.

JA's pace has picked up considerably lately, so I'm not sure if he's going to slow down on purpose - but regardless, it won't be fast enough for Earl. Hell, I bet Earl watching Earl isn't fast enough for Earl. haha

Not sure I have a favorite in this one, I can see it going either way in the long run. It all depends on if Johnny's making shots, cuz I'm fairly certain they're both going to blow up at each other at some point, the question is who is/can going to recover the quickest.

I believe Earl walked into a trap in this match. Johnny has a big advantage in 14.1 and they are about even in 8 and 9 ball.

I like Earl but not in this spot. But then I had doubts about him beating Van Boening also.

True that about the straight pool portion, but with 3 7/8 pockets the game won't be straight pool in the traditional sense.

Johnny doesn't have a big advantage in 14.1 at all. Strickland's high run is 408 balls...higher than almost everyone still living.

Damn, straight pool on a table with pockets that tight? Jesus, that sounds more like torture than anything else. Don't think you'll see any super runs in that set.

10 ball and 8 ball I can see it going either way. I would find it hard to bet on one or the other, although with those tight pockets Earl seems to stick out a bit to me, but again, with those games I could see it going either way.

Straight pool, as much as I like Earl, I would have to say Johnny has the advantage. Unless Earl shoots way more straight pool than gets publicized. Johnny seems to show up at a lot of 14.1 tournaments and I can't remember even hearing of Earl shooting straight pool since that Maine Event thing back in like '98 or '99 or whenever it was. I'm sorry, in my opinion it takes more than being a great shot maker to play great straight pool. Regardless of how great I think Earl is I just don't think it's his game.

That said, Earl's high run is like 408. Clearly he know's *something* about how to play that game.

Can't wait to see this in person... but I won't be eating potato chips with Earl within earshot! I don't want the "stare"
