Dream cue

I am very happy with my Omen but if I could have a couple more they would be a Thomas Wayne and a Tad. I think I would still play with the Omen. I have been lucky enough to have had alot of good cues. Rambo, Balabushka, Kersenbrock, Dan Janes Southwest, Hunter, AE, Stone (little known but great cue maker), Ohman, and Coker. The Omen, Coker, AE, Kersenbrock and Hunter were my favorite players. I think the Omen plays as well as any of them.

A dream cue to me is something that would rarely be played. It is something that would be framed in a one-off case and mounted on a focal point wall in my home as the centerpiece art that it represents. There are many cues on my "wish list" , however the cue that would be my first choice (presently) as this dream cue would be from THOMAS WAYNE.

Dan Janes is a great cue maker and a good guy. But everytime I talk to him, he wants to make a few cues himself but to my knowledge has not .
like I said, i have a 74 ivory joint made by him and i would not part with it.

dream cue poll

searing ahead of scruggs and southwest (franklin) which comes as a big surprise to me,ihave never even seen one or talked to anyone who has hit one but for some reason many people think they are in the class with jerry or tim, when he has made more cues that have lasted for years and years, then i will be happy to see anothe great cue maker

I checked Searing and how on earth could there only be "one" dream cue....
When I think about traditional cuemakers Dennis Searing, Barry Szamboti, John Showman, Joel Hercek, Ernie Guiterrez, South West, James White, these guys(and gal) are the best. I think it should be at least 15 to 20 dream cues or more.

When I think about "Artistic" cuemakers I think about Bob Manzino and Ernie Guiterrez and no one on earth can do what these two can do. Bob and Ernie are the Kings of design, beauty and elegance and execution in a cue.

Then you have past cuemakers, Gus Szamboti the greatest of the great and Frank Paradise, George Balabushka.

I picked Dennis because of his attention to detail, fit and finish. The precision and consistant hit is what I like. What I admire about Dennis is that he relentlessly strives to make each cue with more precision than the last one. Dennis spends quite a bit of time on R&D and with the goal of making the best possible consistantly hitting cue he can make.
Dennis is a perfectionest and good is never good enough.

My dream cue would be built by Burton Spain because of all the years he spent on perfecting his cues and because his point of view regarding cues. It would be nothing fancy, a four pointer (ebony points on BEM), four veneered, reverse (Delrin) joint cue with white and green speck linen and two veneer rings between the butt sleeve and the butt cap.
This is a cue that would be with me until my very last day here.

My good buddy Mike Webb, just to see what he could come up with.

After Mike, I would have to say my two favorites are Joel Hercek and Dennis Searing.

John Davis, Burton's partner, is back making cues again just like the old days. He built most of the blanks that Burton designed. Check my avitar and here http://www.palmercollector.com/JohnDavis.html.

My choice: Black Boar and DPK, along with a good old Gus!
:p

Lucky for me, I already own my dream cue. It's a Szam-Mottey!

Thank you very much for the info, I knew that John Davis is making blanks again and I am very glad that he is. I hope one day I can get a Davis cue that is as nice as the one on your avatar.
Thank you again,

Mine would be a Dave Barenbrugge. I love butterfly splices, and IMHO his ringwork is incomparable. Maybe something similar to this-
Barenbrugge4.jpg

That is some pretty sporty rings and the butterfly design is cool.

"Dream cue"....hmmm. Probably CP, GS, or GB. The other choices I would have are still 'attainable'. Of the ten choices, probably DPK with Schick being a close second.

I already have mine.. it's a jacoby with the birthstones of me and my fiancee. though anyone could make it, all that matters is it's something with both of us shared in it and I can shoot with it because it isn't crazy valuable.
