Who wouldn't bet on this?

If there are 10 balls then odds of winning are 1 in 10 right? Unless the payout is 10 to 1 you cannot break even over time - but, yes , people would bet on this - perhaps betting high early hoping to cash in and walk away ahead of the odds - rarely happens - but that is what defines the word gambling - a fool’s walk through life.
I see I am going to have to build one of these, and haul it around, I hope I can be ready by DCC.. Like pots and pans used to say, It'll be on the square, scouts honor.

Well, I might go for the good looking BJ ( Black Jack) dealers ; but real gamblers go for a reason ending up much more dangerous than an alluring woman.
If you find a good looking one , shes been there less than a month, after that , they become clones of Buster Keaton

MAZE BALL, NEXT ROLL IN 5 MINUTES GET YOUR BETS IN. Some pretty chatty waitress going around selling tickets $5 a pop just for something to do.

Pool hall owners love you stopping your game to watch = more hourly rates for them over the long haul.

nope,,, if you understood what it costs you each bet and how long you play you would never bet in a casino.

yet won't gamble on pool where you can easily see who is the favorite on a bet.

You need 9 to1 to break even

Thread title should have been "Is There Anything a Typical Pool Player Wouldn't Bet On?"

All the sparkly lights, clangity clangs, and charismatic blackjack dealers
I live 25 minutes from the casinos and I love playing the big tall lights flashing noise making slot machines.
I know 9 out 10 visits I'm coming home a loser but I dont care,it's fun.

Well if the house didn't get a cut and it was just 10 people betting on a different ball, at least the money would stay among friends. I'd rather do something like this than play the lottery.

Back when we had paper check stubs at work we would play check poker. It was $1 to get in and they had an additional $5 pot for "high rollers." Basically you took the cents of your check and the last 3 digits of the check number to make a poker hand. It was pretty fun, you usually didn't win but sometimes you might get $35 bucks or something depending on how many people played that week.

The money was collected the day before checks were handed out and a good poker hand was something to get excited about. You almost looked at that before you looked at the dollar amount. 🤣
