Who's building your next cue(s)??

Next Cue Build

My next cue is being made by Kenny Morrell. Delivery due sometime in the fall. Chechen Burl butt/points, Heartwood Birdseye forearm, four veneers, hoppe butt, ivory joint, leather wrap. Old school.

My new cue is still in the design stage and while I've picked a builder for it, it's really up to him if he wants to take the project on. It will be a butterfly spliced cue with Ebony, Holly, and either BEM or something similar.

Why did I choose the maker? The easiest way to explain it is this:

If I see a cuemaker on AZ or their website say that everyone else is wrong, or customers don't understand, or they just have arguments in general I won't deal with them. It's a red flag for me. I don't need angry people around me, life's too short.

The maker I picked has experience with butterfly splices and doesn't get into arguments over payments, returns, politics, Kamui chalk, etc. I also chose to go with a pair of OB Classic blanks for the shafts for the same reason, Royce is a great guy to hang out with, and I like his products.

Image, manners, and talent all matter.

I have three cues on order. I am not when (or if) I will see any of them though:

Joel Hercek
Kenny Koo
Dennis Searing

I'm having a cue made by Ernie Martinez. It will have 6 points, 1 or 2 recuts, made of very dark cocobolo & East Indian Rosewood & I even picked out a very rich color brown leather wrap. The rest is too early to tell, but I love it so far. It will also have some of Ernie's elegant inlays. I can't wait...but I have to :).

I hope me, if not I spent a lot of money on lathes and wood for nothing. I hope some day to get a Jake Hulsey(LGSM3).Doubt I will be able to afford one after the show this weekend!

I think Barry will make one for me sooner or later?

But we haven't talked about it for a couple years.

Don't wanna be too pushy.

Current cue being built by Jim Baxter.

Next cue will be a Lambros.

Hopefully at some point a Pete Tonkin.

After that we will see.

I don't like to wait on the build times so I typically buy cues that are already built and for sale that I like.

Who is...

Building my next cue? The nice folks at SouthWest. Ordered in 2001 and per Laurie delivery this August.

Why? Cause when I got bit by the cue bug, SW was the first, so 11 years later its finally coming... 6 point ebony/ebony wrapless with full ring pack.

Who else I got coming? Hercek and Showman. Time will tell...

My current player is a Hercek, worth the wait.
Enjoy your new Southwest

Thanks Pocono- did you get your Hercek directly from him or in the second hand market? I heard his wait times are pretty lengthy as well. But from what I've seen n read well worth it.

JoeyinCali aka Joey Bautista. There is a picture in the cue gallery in one of his threads. Be a beautiful cue.

Odds are he will build the cue after this one too. I try to keep one on order with him at all times. Really like how his cues play, how they look, and I like dealing with him. He takes his time in building a cue, and I don't mind that at all. Know he likes everything to be just right before he sends one out, to me that is important.

I'd like to order another Tucker as well.

cues

I have alot of custom cues on order some are my design.
But I hope to be trying one of my own cues with 6 to 8 months.
Dont want to cowboy the shafts .
I will be happy with a pj wrapless.

Jeff Olney custom, butterfly.. He make an amazing playing cue, that's for sure!

I'm also having an Olney cue being built right now.

Cocobolo 4 point, 4 veneer Hoppe. I got a glimpse of the veneer setup recently and it looks awesome!
