My new cue is still in the design stage and while I've picked a builder for it, it's really up to him if he wants to take the project on. It will be a butterfly spliced cue with Ebony, Holly, and either BEM or something similar.
Why did I choose the maker? The easiest way to explain it is this:
If I see a cuemaker on AZ or their website say that everyone else is wrong, or customers don't understand, or they just have arguments in general I won't deal with them. It's a red flag for me. I don't need angry people around me, life's too short.
The maker I picked has experience with butterfly splices and doesn't get into arguments over payments, returns, politics, Kamui chalk, etc. I also chose to go with a pair of OB Classic blanks for the shafts for the same reason, Royce is a great guy to hang out with, and I like his products.
Image, manners, and talent all matter.
