Who's building your next cue(s)??

Cue

Starting in February, Bob Owen (Shurtz) is building me a player's cue. I have already picked out the wood and veneers.

Amboyna Burl (cored 3/4" and rock maple filled) for the points and handle

Veneer colors (natural/purple/teal green/natural) - outside in

Segmented handle with matching rings /double rings top and bottom of handle

Desert Ironwood for the forearm and butt sleeve (half Ironwood, half Amboyna butt sleeve)

19 to 19.3 oz. Forward Balanced (about 19”)

Hoppe ring at the bottom

2 Shafts, 12.75 mm, 1 with Hercules medium hard tip and 1 with Moori medium hard tip.

SS 5/16 x 14 joint

Pete Ohman has some renderings I sent him for a cue to be started mid to late next year...If it comes close to the renderings, it will be a barn-burner of an Omen :)

woods to be used include Bloodwood, Quilted Maple, Maple Burl, and some UNREAL exhibition grade crotch walnut that I picked up from guy who supplies gunstock makers...

Just ordered another cue from Dickie,,(rhncue) this week and I am pumped about it cause the last cue he built me was perfect in everyway...I think his work is so strong right now that I play with one of his cues daily while I have a gina, hercek, tasc, schick,Harris,Jmw,mottey etc...that sit in my safe and they are all amazing cues but Dickies recipe is dead nuts for me...JMO

Sounds great !!

Steve Lomax is building me a cue and we are using amboyna burl in the points and butt.Hope Snaplock will post up some pictures of this cue too.
Hoping to stick with one cue from here out but I may sell my Omen after I get used to the Lomax .Then at that point get another Omen in the works....
Oh hell , I give up ....addictions ...

Dennis Searing is building my next cue.

I understand he has it all done but just has to finish up shaping the tip, so I'm figuring in 4 or 5 years I'll be in tall clover!

Can't wait!

Thanks

Kevin

Ernie Gutierrez. It's always Ernie for me... maybe one day I'll venture out and buy something different. I doubt it though. :)

I have only one on order by Randy Mobley, but who knows when will arrive:shrug:

bdcues will be my first custom built for me with my design. it is a sneaky-esque, 4 prong, or not so sneaky design. ebony forearm with tulipwood points, handle and buttsleeve with tulipwood and black checked rings at a, b, c, d, and e positions, also cored with purpleheart. G-10 radial pin with a ss-360 shaft and weighing in around 19 ozs.

funny thing is i asked for some quotes and he was the only one to reply so that is part of the reason going with a bdcue, the other is i looked at his website at some of his work and liked his building techniques.

8 weeks out, but will post some pics of the cue coming together in the near future.

soo excited!

Guerra Cues...
Over the long weekend in Tunica, I got to meet and talk with Tony Guerra of Guerra Cues over at the "Sureman" booth. Tony is a great guy that is passionate about his cues, and it shows in his wood selection and execution. There were three cues I got to shoot with, all felt really good, but the third cue, a stripped ebony with bocote handle just felt incredible... If I recall correctly, the forearm is not cored but has been stabilized and has a G-10 pin. Man, did that cue sing!! Tony is making me two 30" inch shafts that should be here along with the butt in a couple of weeks...
Thanks Tony!!! It was a true pleasure chewing the fat with you...and I'm super excited about receiving your cue.

I was also able to pick up my new Larry Vigus Koa into Ebony Hoppe ring cue which I haven't been able to put down...

Both of these guys make incredible playing cues that could pass for super models on or off the table... If you're looking for a cue that has bang for the buck, either one of these two guys know what they're doing!!!
