Who's cues hit like (*&%?

I had a scruggs sneaky pete that was wood to wood piloted 5/16-14 joint, one of the older ones with ts between the points, that was the worst cue i ever played with! When I first got the cue I was looking forward to seeing what the "scruggs pete hype" was all about. What a horrible, freaking dud.

I also have a scruggs sneaky wood to wood piloted 5/16-14 (old logo between the points). It's one of my best players. It has curly maple shaft to boot. You really should try another!

I also have an old Timmy Scruggs sneakie that is one of my best sneakies. I didn't think I would like it due to the 4.5 oz shaft, but it plays so good I don't notice the heavy shaft. I normally don't like shafts that heavy, but with this cue it doesn't matter.

I just got my cue from Chuck Starkey... the one w/the wood pin, and I was surprised! I've had a 2 dozen SW's over the last 7 years and this cue plays as good as any of them and any of the other cues I've played with.

I love my Sailor cue but I'm having trouble laying this cue down.

I just got my Starkey Cue with a wood pin this week and can hardly believe how well it plays. I have played with just about everything in 50+ years of playing pool and it hits as good as any. I told Chuck I played more one pocket than anything else and he said he would send a cue. Koa wood with a birdseye grip (no wrap) and an ivory joint & ferule at a very reasonable price. This might be the best deal on a handmade cue in the country. If you want a lot of gingerbread and inlays, his cues are probably not for you, but if you want a great hitting cue at a great price, get in touch with Chuck. John Henderson

I have owned and played with a dozen or so Cokers and I can't stand them.I hear every one say how good they are and I just don't get it.The one's I have had or seen all looked very nice but they played like crap to me.

Why did you buy another 11 if the first on hit so bad?

LOL, I was thinking the same.... I would've figured it out by probably the third!

In addition, Cokers are "ok" for the money.. I just cannot stand his ringwork. The only Coker I really really liked was a titlist conversion with a holly hoppe ring. It sold here probably a year ago. Great cue.

I have owned 4 Richard Black cues of varying value, from low-end to $5k and thought they all hit like a dream.

I also love the hit of Black Boar cues and had my hands on a 6-pointer back in 1997 that I played with for a couple of hours and did not miss a single ball. Had a lot of chemistry with that cue, but no $$ to take it home. I have tried to find it again, but I am too far from Cowboy, USA to track it down.

I hit some balls with a Brick cue made from Dymondwood. Although it hit like a Brick as advertised, I would have preferred it hit like a pool cue.

Chris

Dymondwood is synthetic, and designed for breaking not playing..
I have had about 7 or 8 of Alex's cues and most of them play very well,
But I cant see many cuemakers break cues being top notch players...

So I since discovered in several other areas of this thread. The player who was using the cue wasn't aware it was a break cue and neither was I.

There are some playing cues made from Dymondwood, however. I can't recall the guys name, but he's from the San Diego area and makes odd shaped handles for his cues.

Topper, I believe, is the cue you're thinking of, Chris.

I saw a girl at Q-Master's playing with one. VERY funky...but she sure as hell knew how to work it!!!! :) :) :) (the cue, that is)

His name was Bob. He moved out of San Diego and stopped making those fishing rods I believe.

Rat is right ... I think you are thinking of Topper cue from Bob down in SD.

It looks like an anal proble or some sort of sex toy. There is a guy locally that plays with this cue around my 'hood and he wears leather pants, ride Harley and smiles at me.

I try to stay far away from him as possible :D

There is also a cheap copy of this cue made by Scorpion or one of those mass production company.

Jazz is right. I refer to them as "dildocues". Marketed under the name "BOHICA"....:D

They have a label on the buttcap which reads "Insert this End"

I guess we won't be seeing too many guys using one after this thread. I would ask, "how's the hit?" but nobody will admit to "playing with" one!

o the artist Richard black

Steve Mizerak made richard Black who he is today an artist. Hopkins helped etc. Players like steve and allen can play well with anything with a tip and ferrule. I set up a deal 10,000.00 for 7 blacks with an 8th for and extra 2,500.00 ivory jointed. I also played a wk.end with steve 3 richard blacks he was hoping to get a capone. the three blacks wnated 5,000. junk the ivory jointed went back. It took about 3yrs to sell the other 7. Looked great but played different. Steve and richard didn't see eye to eye in the later yrs. And richard still owes me 1000. in cue work for the sales deals. This was about 10yrs ago Steve you are still my hero. Steve would tell ty you know he has all my cues.
