Who's Going To Apa Nationals

apa rules are an f-ing joke i would never play in an apa league. I was surprised to find out they run tournaments with those rules too. WTF is slop and when you make a ball on the break you are that suit wtf is that?

sorry about ranting just wanted to let you know how i feel about apa.

Ben

I may not agree with the rules but I actually like the system. I wish the handicap limit was alittle higher but I like how it encourages the strong players to get on a team with weak players. I think this is a very good thing for bringing new blood into the sport.

This may be hard for you to believe but a lot of people actually enjoy playing in the APA. Are the rules perfect? Nope. Does the handicapping leave something to be desired? Perhaps. But regardless of YOUR personal feelings about the APA surely you can agree that earning a spot in a National tournament of any sort, let alone when there are 100s of thousands of people competing for a limited number of spots, is quite an accomplishment.

So I guess it begs the question... Why do you have to piss on Pimp's parade?

Congrats, Pimp!

because the apa is the largest league and most known in the pool world, how did it become so popular with the way it is set up? the rules are a joke slop isnt pool, if i wanted to play slop i could walk into any bar and play on their piece or crap tables. Do any pro players play by these rules? would you play money matches with these rules?

The APA rules are great because it allows lower players a real chance. I am a 7 in 8 and 8 in 9 and If I play a 1-4 in 9 ball by game rules only I would torture them. However in a 65- 14, 65-19, or 65-25, or 65-31 they have a shot.

Also the 23 rule is very important, otherwise a teamcould be all killers and match length would be upsurd.

I was a tournament and action player long before the APA, but I like APA, and truthfully a good player should be able to adapt.

As a matter of fact..... I've never seen a Pro TURN DOWN a slop shot....I can see it now.... Efren makes the 9 out of turn for the US Open Championships.... then turns to his opponent and says, 'no thanks, I'm not going to take that'! Don't think so. Oh, and don't give any crap about it being a different game. So what. You are wanting to hold amateurs to a higher standard than pro's by not allowing slop.

I, like the post above, just can't understand why you think it is necessary to "rain on someones parade"..... start your own thread.

Original Poster..... congrats on making the Nationals. Regardless of rules, format, etc... you WILL have a great time! And that...friends... is what it's all about. Playing pool and the chance for your team to win $25,000 is the bonus!

Good Luck.

I will be there. Dogginda, if my team plays your team I will have to ask you to take the bells off. They could be considered sharking.

Hey Ben,
There are all kinds of money matches (usally small action) with players using their APA skill level and the APA rules.....Ron

I didn't make it with any of my teams but I am going to Ref.. Say Hi if you would like.

There is a place in the pool industry for all types of leagues, a player just has to choose which playing format and rules they want to play by, then join a team and represent our sport in a manner that will promote more players to become interested in growing pool.

I am a league operator and also a player on a BCA league, so I have nothing negative to say about either league, THERE IS A PLACE IN POOL FOR BOTH. i actually enjoy the competition offered in both formats.

I will by in Vegas from August 14th to the 24th working the floor as a observer so look me up I would love to meet some of you AZ'er out there.

Good Luck to all those who made it , I have a freind going for the 3rd time I wasn not able to make it with my team, but theres always next year right and the next and the next LOL

I will be there with my team. It will be my first time there with a Team. i have been to Vegas before. Since I don't know any of you guys that are going, maybe we should say our team names so we can look for eachother. Or give a real name so we can be on the look out. Maybe there will be a time we can all meet up?

Even though I suggested giving our team name, I can not since they banned my team name this year. They said we can change our name but we don't care so they are going to change our name for us. My team name was "Balls to the Wall" I do not know what it is going to be now.

I'll be there. We are Goodfella's from Quincy MA.

Hope to meet some of you out there.

Wow.

If you can't follow the rules, then it is best you do not play.
You play 9 ball by the rules right? Do you take slop in 9 ball or call your pockets. later.

 Going. Team - Buzzed B's (from the B's Nest in Fall River, MA). Hope to see you guys there. Slop counts ? Yes, because a 3 has to compete with a 6 sometimes. The only rule that makes no sense to me is the 23 handicap limit. Bumping to 25 (5 5's can play) is such a problem ? Heck, even 24 wouldn't be bad. Opinions ??

Congratulations to everyone that make it out to Las Vegas. Be prepared for lots of fun. I have been out there for several years now, but I still enjoy it a great deal.

We will be setting up a booth in the Mini-Mania room under the name "Omega Billiards". I hope to see and meet other AZers there.
