I will be heading up to the Derby City Classic this year (first timer) and just wanted to see who else is going and if anyone wants to meet up. It is kind of funny how many people we all know but have never met.

I will be playing in at least one event (undecided which) even though I may not stand a chance past the 4th or 5th round (we will see about that). I have a few guys that play pretty damn good coming with me up there as well, one being a friend that spent two years on the road and both are going to be sporting some BB attire.

Anyhow, I am getting excited to go and trying to keep hitting them straight and move a few cues while I am at it!

I look forward to meeting anyone there that wants to meet up and look at some cues or just shoot a few balls...

Usually a lot of the Indiana guys on here make it down to Derby for at least part of the event. I know myself, Ziggystardust, DDAdadms will be there at some point. I'd be down for meeting some AZers.
 
I will be there probably with the drunk loud guy with bail money....:rolleyes:

I typically go for the one pocket, the bangers are there for the 9 ball :p, and the bankers are .....well bankers. :eek:

I will be there working at the Tournament Desk. The more you win, the more we will get to talk. (As you come up and report your results.)

Joe Tucker will be there 20th thru the 22nd...for everyone to enjoy the American Rotation National Playoffs..

Its truly the most bang for your buck and best matched game at Derby... its the only game at Derby that 'starts in your own neighborhood' and can pay you for the whole trip. I can't wait!...its best part of Derby (besides maybe 1P) that all players can get a fair game.

Imo, the Short Race / Short Rack 9 ball Bank game is a fun coin flip 'donation' maybe break even or better even with a rebuy. The regular 9 ball matches are dominated by the 10-15 'break specialist' that chop up the prize pool money annually and imo is a waste of good pool time. This game needs to be moved to 10 ball at a minimum with break rules to even get me interested again. Besides the action my week of tournament pool will be over about Wednesday as the 9 ball begins.

Question - How will all of us that know each other recognize each other? That's actually a serious question.
 
I'll be going to the DCC.

I went last year for the Banks final, and the 9 ball final.

As a side note, can ANYONE pay the entry fee and get to play?

It's not that I would make it past my first match, but, if I was to draw one of the HOF players, it could be worth it to me.

Oh, and if I meet you before I start drinking, my name is Steve. After I've been drinking, you may meet my alter ego, "Bill":)

Yes, anyone can play in any of the three main events. I'm going to play this year, either banks or 1 pocket. So you see, ANYBODY can play....
 
I plan to be there Thursday through Sunday for the banks. Hope to make it back for the end of 1Pocket and some of the 9 ball.
 
I'll be there and hope to have a booth or share one with someone... Trying to negotiate getting of of my cage for the last 3-4 days but if it doesn't happen you can find me in the Accu-Stats control room during full production matches and around the Acu-Stats booth or out among the vendors if it's internet only.... I usually have work todo at the end of the night so if you see some guy banging balls into the end rail on the TV table after the matches are over odds are pretty good that it will be me.... Come say hi =D

I will be going to play in the 1pocket division and make my annual donation to the pro pool player retirement fund.

I'm going to try to play in the 1 Pocket, if my body holds up.
I will have a backpack full of pool books at all times.{in case I don't know the shot}
I would have been easier to spot last week , I looked a lot like Mark Twain , but I got a haircut.

I'll be there again, and again, not sure how long....will definitely be there for the start of the 1P (the only event I play in). Before or after that just depends. I'll be the guy offering weight to champions (read: handing out cash) :eek: ;)
