Why all the hate for team USA?

Your post didn't please nor displease me. I was just stating the facts about professional sportsmen/athletes in the spotlight. The top players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, etc....are subjected to 1000's of times more negative comments and posts on hundreds of different sites around the world.

The negativity about losing or acting like Earl are not unique to pool itself nor this site.

I agree...I'm Disappointed that team USA didn't perform at the level that they could have, but a lot of people on here just seem to be hating on them. I agree that a few of team USA showed their asses out there and that it's unacceptable to be unprofessional. I just don't get all the bashing...Like JAM said I hope team USA doesn't read this forum! All the negative feedback from the "fans" that are supposed to stand behind our guys isn't going to help future performance's. There is a big difference between constructive criticism and bashing...Congrats to team Europe! They played well and kept their head in the game. Hopefully USA comes back strong and clear headed next year.

That's for sure, other sports figures have to deal with far more scrutiny.

No one outside of the "pool world" reads this forum......they can't even answer the qualifying question, "who is the black widow?". LoL

With my brains and your showmanship we will eventually fix this when 2F9B becomes the game. :)

IMHO, NOBODY will EVER watch pool in its current state. Not enough to make money, that is.
 
Amerians just are not happy people anymore. With the economy and state of the country in general it is no wonder why professional pool reflects this.

Europe won 9 lags, the USA won 4.

A couple of the commentators speculated that the lag might have been lost intentionally a couple of times because of the difficulty of making a ball on the break (breaker made a ball without fouling only 33% of the time).

I agree that we need to do something to improve pool here in the states, but that horse has already been beaten to death. By no means am I saying lets just ignore everything and hope we do better next year, but at least stand behind your team weather they are winning or loosing...

If what you say is true, it seems he at least had the good sense to keep a lid on it and let his playing do the talking when he knew he was on camera... From any of the footage I've seen of him play, he always seemed cool and composed.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'd love to know where you read, saw or heard about his behavior?
 
I thought that the US were a little unlucky this year. It seems their hands were forced to who they had to pick. I was excited to see the return of Earl and with Hatch (one of my fav US players) and Morris it was an entertaining line up.

The commentators over here, kept saying that Hatch and Earl haven't always been friends? They always seemed like 2 peas in a pod to me.

The American team need to stay more focused in my opinion. They were often complaining about rolls but I genuinely believe these things to even themselves out, and why get worked up over something you can't control...

Commenatating is a tough job. I thought all four of them were great. Each commentator brought a different style to the booth, and I thought they each complemented each other.

Team Europe put on a great show of professional pool, and it was beautiful to watch.

Team USA suffered unison, and their team comaraderie just wasn't the same as Team Europe's, which I think is what hurt them the most.

Two players partied the night away before Day One on Team USA, and though this event is a reason to celebrate, they should have taken the task at hand more seriously, I guess.

Shane was cute when he hugged Earl after they won the first match for USA. I love Shane.

Earl is bringing a lot of subject matters on the forum. What else is new? Who generates more space on this forum than Earl?

Johnny gave it his all. He brought his family to Vegas to this prestigious event, so they could share the experience with him. I think he had his hands full managing the team as captain with Buddy and being a member of Team USA.

Dennis brought the spirit to the team, and I enjoyed seeing him make those 9-balls on the break. The last match with Rodney, the two of them tried to loosen up a bit and enjoy the ride.

Nobody feels worse right now than those members of Team USA. Give them a break. This forum is filled with so much hatred for American pros right now. I can't wait for the Mosconi Cup fever to pass by. The climate here right now is turbulent.

I pray none of those Team USA members or their families read this forum. :frown:

The only problem I had was Jay making Earl look even worse then he really was. He was saying Earl was talking while Daz was shooting and Daz was complaining the ball skidded. Other then that the commentary was GREAT as it usually is.
 
You know, I've been sitting here trying to keep it all to myself how the USA is this, the USA is that, how the Europeans are this, how the Europeans are supposedly so superior.

First of all, it's one race. It's a team event. I mean, cut the USA some slack. The USA just didn't show up in this venue.

I guarantee you if you take five of the top Americans and take five of the top five Europeans and play 15 ahead, $30,000 each, round robin, I promise you I know who will get the money.

I wish all the people on the Internet would stop degrading the USA team. It happens.

I remember when the USA beat the Europeans by 6 points in the Ryder Cup in golf. Nobody got on there and started bashing the Europeans. I think it's absurd.

For people that are supposed to be Americans, they are supposed to stick up for their American team, no matter what, good or bad. They just did not show up.

I was listening to some of the commentary this year, and some of it was horrible. If this would have been a pay-per-view event, I would never order it again. The Americans were beat before they even hit a ball, according to the some of the commentary. The Americans were wounded soldiers in this Mosconi Cup. There was no integrity for the USA team. It was all EUROPE this, EUROPE that, EUROPE prepares like this, the USA don't prepare. I just wish that the score could have been a little closer, and I guarantee you that those announcers would have pulled their train around.

Everybody likes a winner. Everybody likes a result picker. Everybody bets on result pickers, but I just bet you that if they played that 15 ahead round robin for 30 grand each, then they can start talking because the Europeans have no shot at getting that money. I wonder then what they'd say about the Europeans.

No one is really concerned about the final scoring results. The issue is how unprofessional Team USA was during the event.

Well, let's just say he wouldn't embarrass himself if I was there to ensure he got to bed at a decent hour, ate normal meals, didn't engage in games of stake at any time while the event was in progress, and didn't party all night long before the event even begins. I've developed a little experience in this area. :D

Darren's a great player and he deserves credit for stepping up to the plate. It's a shame there wasn't more money in the mix but in this case it appears they were paid to play for mostly rep.

WOW although you can't do a straight 1 to 1 .. a 25 to 17 defeat could turn into a 100 to 68 defeat.. so could SVB be a 20 game favorite in a race to 100.... yes, yes he could.. ..
