Why Did Earl Forfeit?

Is there any word on why Earl had an F in his first match?

Did someone hide his gloves and hand tape? Or did he realize that he had to shoot with a cuetec? Again!

the thought of losing to a woman, a he did in 8ball, was so overwhelming he didn't want to face the prospect.

I've personaly seen him walk out of a few tournaments for BS reasons (mostly him about to lose). He was just about banned forever from playing in FL for leaving during a tournament in Tampa where someone had paid $400-$500 for him in the calcutta.

He's just an old baby that doesn't need much of a reason to act like a fool.

Stay tuned for another episode of Earl "Drama Queen" Strickland

I think i read on here it was because he read the bracket wrong and missed a match. I hope that is true and he just didnt decide to shoot against her, however, neither would surprise me really...

TRUE! The ONLY story here is that Earl misread the brackets and start time for his match. He did show up, but was late. He was REALLY excited to play in this event. He thinks 10 ball is the future of this sport.

Plus, Anna K. is a tough little cookie. That young lady can PLAY!

He should have played from the losers side. He needs to quit pool for awhile. Johnnyt

I can assure you that Charlie Williams ain't on Earl Strickland's birthday cake list. :p

Having said that, I cannot forget reading about the time that Charlie Williams was competing in a Florida Pro Tour event, and Charlie was nowhere to be found when his match was called. Provisions were made for him to shoot the match when he finally did arrive. The reason he was late is because, just like Earl Strickland in this incident, Charlie read the chart wrong which posted the time of his match.

I can understand if he mislead the chart on the A side but to forfeit the B side the guy is NUTS.Way to go earl, you are earning more respect everyday.I would really want you in my tourny..........NOT!

Well, there's the time that Charlie's match was called at Planet 9-Ball against an unknown 15 year old young kid and Charlie didn't show up. The kid asked for a forfeit and Charlie and the TD made up some lame excuse and postponed Charlie's match until the second round (even the person doing the chart and calling the matches and all the other players knew the excuse was bogus). Charlie just couldn't drag his privledged character butt all the way from Orlando, FL. to Tampa,FL. in time for his match, when other players got there ON TIME from all over the country.
Charlie said later that he had it all smoothed over with the kid and was going to give him some 'patches' for his shirt. This was a couple of years ago and the last that I heard, the kid didn't have the patches (although I haven't confirmed that info with the kid...but I could).
I have a VERY interesting tidbit about the THIS tournament, but I can't tell it without getting an 'invited player' in trouble....( and I like the player )

If he wants to forfeit let him forfeit. That's better for his opponent. But in this case where he never played one match the auctioneer should give the auction money back to the guy who bought him.

Cueman, why do you feel he should be allowed to forfeit no questions asked?

He made a commitment to the tournament and the promoter as well as the fans by extention, do you not feel he is obligated to honour it?

I don't want to speak for Chris but I think Earl of all people has the right to forfeit if he wants to. I say Earl of all people, not because of his history as a top player, but because there are probably more people that don't want him there than do want him there. All he'd do is whine and cry anyways so let his entry fee get donated to the rest of the field. I think it would make everyone theres life easier than if he did show up and shoot.

Thats just my thoughts on it.

That is a tough call there as far as returning the money.

Earl should be made to pay the money to the buyer before he can play again. If he doesn'. it is just plain old chicken shit behavior. But, name the last time Earl gave a dam about anyone or anything but himself.

Who in their right mind would pick Earl in an auction? Johnnyt

it would have to be at one hell of a discount,,,,and that aint gonna happen. I know a guy in Clear Water that puts him in action often and does well, low profile $500 to $5K ahead sets in bars etc. They do ok, Earl is like Mike Tyson(who i know) he needs someone to spoon feed him and keep him on track when that happens game over-easier said than done.

I have often wondered how they got along when they were on the Mosconi Cup team together, with Williams having banned Earl from UPA events after Earl removed his stick on patch.
I'm a loyal Earl fan and not too fond of CW.
