Dear Gentle Readers,

Why do you guys (and a few girls!) elect to post in this rather cloistered venue?

Let me attempt to spark the discussion ...

Through rigorous forensic analyses, I’ve ascertained that there are three types of posters ...

1) Genuine seekers of information.

2) Those who, solemnly, share pertinent info.

And ...

3) The rest of us who like to mouth off!

So ... where do you fit?

A little of all 3

I genuinely seek out information, especially from certain posters that are known to be legitimate sources.

I like to share information that I've learned and picked up, because I wish someone had shared it with me when I was learning to play.

And I like to debate/BS and I love pool. This place is a hotbed for both.

A lot of of, including myself, are somewhere in the middle; There are the secluded few, but IMO, that's not the majority. I usually surf the "Ask the Cuemaker", "Cue and Case Gallery", and "Main Forum". Occasionally going into the Wanted/For Sale section.

I live on a small island where exactly ONE other person knows just who the hell SVB is. Except for daily phone calls and endless monitoring of facebook posts, how else would I talk pool and stay in contact with the pool world?

Because I'm not happy until I know just how poorly I play this game. :embarrassed2: So far, I've got a pretty good idea of how bad I am.
 
I need my pool fix daily. As I'm not in the pool industry as my main form of income, I come here to get it! I love this place, and the people for the most part.

Replying to the original poster, why I post here. I ask myself this very question every time I click "SUBMIT REPLY". However, as time goes by I forget these feelings of remorse for posting, and do it all over again. It is a wash and repeat behavior pattern for me. (some truth to this, but mostly sarcasm).

I think Joe Rogan said it perfectly *link*. As long as you have good fitting waders, a pair of goggles, ass weights & a Meucci, One can find some great information and people amongst the chaos.

I think we are all capable of 1), 2), and 3)—I know I am.
It all depends on the subject-thread. :grin-square:
 
I just stumbled in surfing the web one night but got caught up in the soap opera that is Gene.

One of the things I love about going into a Pool Room is being a part of an interesting diverse group of characters.I know to others I was a character to them.When the room closed that I frequented almost on a daily basis there was a void.I have a table in my home so I could always invite someone over to play but there was something missing.When I started coming on to the main forum is when I realized it was the daily banter , some funny some serious , some logical and some illogical , that is what was missing.That is why I love scanning through the post here in the Main forum. This is my Pool Room fix.
