Why Shanelle should be given a chance?

If anything shouldn't we be mad at the companies sponsoring her and their marketing departmenmt or decision makers? Would ANYONE up and coming turn down sponsorship because they don't play top level pool yet? I think not.

Are people blaming the wrong party here?

Right or wrong doesn't matter. She is selling a product, not being nominated for the nobel peace prize. No comments about the peace part please.

If it doesn't matter why did you bring it up? Is she a model or a sponsored player? If she's a model then there's nothing more to say. If she is the player-sponsor of a company, yes she is going to be subject to criticism.

Son, I think you need to get some education and possibly a laxative. First, you shouldn't answer your own questions. It comes off as asinine. Second, just because I don't agree with one extreme doesn't mean my opinion defaults to the other. There are plenty of women inbetween Shanelle and Allison that sponsors can consider and many of them are very attractive. All it takes is a little research and you can find a run out player who can knock your socks off. Third, this is a discussion about why Shanelle should be given a chance which means debating with people who don't think she should be given that chance (yet). You're gonna have to come up with a better retort than "WHY DONT YOU SPONSOR THEM?". You just don't make any sense when you say stuff like that.
DAD is that you?

I don't think anyone is going to blame her decision. Free money is free money. Unfortunately, when you're a sponsored player, you also become the leading spokesperson for that company so it is inevitable that any criticism people might have with the deal is addressed to her.

Exactly. There is a difference between being a spokesmodel and being a sponsored pro player. If she was just showing up and getting people to the booth, I'd have no argument. That's what a model does.

To address some inane statements, I am not jealous of her beauty. No female here is. Yeah, she's gorgeous, but I've dated girls hotter than her.

More than a few men seem to agree with me.

I hope she isn't on AZ, how would you like everyone talking about you? Do you honestly think she thinks she is a champion? Thanks for pointing out that she is not, we can all sleep better tonight knowing this.

Go cut your hair, son. Why your mom started to bore me isn't the forum's business.

If it makes you feel better to attack someone then please post your religion so I never make the mistake of visiting this church. Or are you off your holier than thou kick? Seems like you are.

my 2 cents...

...if you promise to give them back. :D

Shanelle was born with great looks the way some people are born with great talent or a lot of money -- they shit out in the game of life. We can complain all we like about how she's sponsored while others aren't but the bottom line is: nothing's going to change.

Even if she wasn't sponsored, she'd still be gorgeous.

I'm average in looks, in my game, in life, in just about everything except bad temperament. A long time ago, I figured out that, in the world of sports (and maybe beyond), the two most highly marketable facets are looks and skill. I figured I didn't have looks so I'd concentrate on skill. Besides, looks will fade one day. I'd rather be the 89 year old cranky cat lady running racks on the young whippersnappers on the table in a few decades.

Instead of spending my valuable calories wondering about Shanelle's life I'd rather spend it improving my own game, and working harder at my job so I can sponsor my own C-player ass instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

:)

some people missed the point here. being selected as an endorser of a product and getting sponsorship is a privilege, not a right. the company has the final word on this on who they want as a sales representative.

having to play pool is both a right and a privilege. everybody is allowed to play pool. players play to qualify and enter tournaments. if you don't qualify, you can still play on other tourneys. simple.

being good at pool doesn't equate automatic endorsement. you can be the greatest player on earth but if you cant sell S-H-I-T, then you dont get the deal. Charisma plays a part on this one.

some people are mad at her because she is getting attention. it's not her fault if she's an average player who sells. well, it's not her problem but your problem. only solution, make yourself marketable as well. whether you like it or not, Shanelle will not dress up like you, just to make you happy and say that it is fair.

you guys should be happy that she is making an effort to learn and participate in pool and not just there to pose and sell products like most models are. pool needs people like her having interest in pool. the more, the merrier. pool is not an exclusive fraternity for the pros, nor does endorsement deals and sponsorships.

I'm guessing she found something a little better & didn't want to give it up so you left. Seems kind of funny that someone who couldn't perform would be attacking someone else for not performing. Good thing the apple fell FAARRR from the tree.

Sponsership is advertising is exposure is sales is income dollars. Not skill levels. Why would a green Gecko be expected to be skilled in insurance terms? He's cute, it's advertising. I personally think it would be cool for a cue manufactuer to sponsor the homely gal who rubs cashews behind her ears. It is advertising. Probably ninty percent of pool players are bangers anyway and couldn't relate to the Pros skill sets. Besides, she is easy on the eyes.

Okay, imagine if this were a baseball team and the Kansas City Royals decided to boost attendance, they would sign Angelina Jolie to play first-base. Now, let's say the Royals step up and tell everyone she's practicing every day with the best people and that she's trying her hardest in the minor leagues right now. You don't think the whole country would go nuts?
