Why STILL All The Venom For Bill Stroud?

It's Christmas time....and It's OLD news. Old threads re-visited, new threads? Forgive and forget, people make mistakes is normally what I would say. But for some reason this "topic" won't go away?
He's not an axe murderer, is he?
 
He ran the contest, He offered the cue and he has a winner but never follows through with the cue. Bill Stroud discredited himself and his word is worth nothing.

Winner got nothing, but being congratulated for being the contest winner, and IMHO should have got his Cue as promised.:confused:
 
Kind of on the fence about this.

On the one hand, it's getting a little old having this pop up all the time.

On the other hand, Bill Stroud IS a total waste of space piece of junk, and anyone who ever vouched for him is also a total waste of space piece of junk.

As a matter of fact, i almost hold all those idiots who vouched for him, MORE accountable then him, simply because they wouldn't shut up about what an amazing human being he was, when CLEARLY he is just another scumbag.

Just let the guy die a total scumbag and be done with it.
 
maybe because people thought so much of him to begin with, to have those feelings betrayed hurts that much more.

It's because of all the force fed negativty in the news/media/politics we see/hear on a daily basis. We are force fed it daily, I can even feel the newspeople sigh....a sigh of relief when they talk about something good that has happened, don't think I'd want to work in the media nowadays. Like Donald Sutherland said yrs ago as a Tank Commander in a misfit army movie, ''Quit with the negative waves''.

By the OP's logic, doing anything wrong that is less than an ax-murder must just be ok, and let's all forget it....

This happened in our back yard, AZBilliards. Anytime that anything bad happens in your back yard, it has more impact for you.

The fact remains that Mr.Stroud continues to post here in our back yard, and many feel he is to be a respected member of the pool community, based on his past building fine cues. When someone like that let's you down, and continues to use the same venue, it will continue to annoy some of us.

It wasn't handled properly, and he can still right his wrong, in some manner. My bet is that he won't, but just "letting it go" will not help, either.
 
Somebody had a bet on whether he would make it by a certain date, so they start a thread ever so often to try to shame him into doing it, so they can win the bet. Stroud did wrong. Story is getting old. Move on.

Yes, Bill was wrong. Yes, he crapped in our yard. But guess what, he doesn't care or he would have done something about it. All these posts about him have done nothing more than wasted space on the forum. You could have 1000 posts about how Stroud is a snake and what have you, but guess what...HE DOESN'T CARE...HE WON'T CARE! So why even continue with the posts? Oh yeah, it's gonna make a difference...NOT!

I agree that it won't make a lick of difference,cause it won't
change a thing.But if the man still visits the site and can see the
disappointment people have with him,I'm surprised a man with the
billiard history he has wouldn't care.
The only thing i wonder is,does he show such disregard to everyone
in the billiard community or just the people on AZ?

Hello Tank;

Say, hypothetically, someone came to your house uninvited, walked straight through the front door and did something very offensive to one of your family members.

You know who the guy is but the police can't seem to locate him and a few months pass with no results. Then six months turns into a year, and then another year goes by still with no luck finding him.

At this point what do you do?

Do you give up on the idea that the person who did something offensive to a family member should be held to account?

But I take a different view on it. And I think some other az'er do, too, based upon their input.

If someone does something "very offensive" to a family member of mine, it doesn't set well with me and time doesn't make it better. A little accountability would, however.

Where the differences of opinion on this topic come from, I'm not real sure, but it might be how we all interpret the az community a little differently.

You people are like a pack of wild dogs......... Enough already....Use this determination of *****ing to write to Washington to your representatives and complain about the promises they have broken since they took office......ANd you know what......The results will be the same........Nothing will be accomplished......But at least it will keep the forum free of this subject
 
Ok, I do not know Bill Stroud but it appears that he has a great reputation for making a good cue. This is why I imagine people were excited to have one made for them. I first wonder why he would back out of this deal he made, is there something wrong that we don't know about? maybe he is broke and can't afford to do it, maybe he had good intentions to make the cue but got bogged down with work. Who knows but there has to be a reason, I don't see him just saying F It. Maybe he got behind and once he saw the negative he said "F it". The thing is YES he should have followed through with his contest, but he didn't. NOBODY lost any money, NOBODY got hurt except Bill Stroud's reputation. So are these hate threads now still going because somebody didn't get something valuable for free?? Again He should have followed through I'm not making excuses for him.

Two extremely different scenarios. If someone made a promise to me and didn't follow through on it, that's life. I'm not out any money, little time and all that is really hurt is my belief in someone's word. By "very offensive", if you mean something physical, totally different story. You can't compare the two and honestly, that was a lame comparison.

I feel bad for the guy that got stiffed, it's not fair, it's not right and it's ethically and morally wrong. Nobody was physically harmed and we learned that someone we all held in high regards and spoke so highly of could give a rat's a$$ about "family" or anyone else for that matter.

You have a merry Christmas as well!
 
Let see....

1) Lots of 'wrongs' in the world will go unanswered , I certainly hope we never get to the point as a society where it's too much bother to keep trying to fight them. Even when futile. That's when we start to give up on the future.

2) It seems like there are people coming in here each and every day that are still learning about this situation for the first time. Why should they not know ? Who are we trying to protect and why ?

3) EVERYONE here is here cause they are bored , have some free time or just nothing better to do. So big woop if some want to spend a 1/2 minute on this topic. Like the forum isn't full of other useless BS as well ? Like really....all the other inane , done to death , silly chatter is so important ? Yea, we really all need to know what your favorite pool game is or how you would play some mythical pool character in a race to 10 for the 'cheese'. That's going to change the world. :)

4) Uh......I don't really have a #4 but it seemed like there should be one .....

Oh well.
