Why won't this sell???

Recently in the for sale section I put two Predator Z shafts up for sale. One was a Z2 which sold very quick for $120 and had 4-5 interested (other than the buyer). The other is a first generation Z shaft (Uni-Loc, black collar, w/Sniper tip) for $100 & no shipping expenses to buyer, to which I had ZERO replies for. NONE!!!

Now, 4+ years ago, before the 2nd generation shafts came out, people were paying $219 + S&H, plus $30 for the Sniper upgrade for this shaft. A lot of them were sold. And today, people are still buying Z shafts (and OB2's) and paying big bucks for them.

What I'm asking is, why wouldn't SOMEONE out there be interested in this shaft? I mean, it's not like it's some kind of dinosaur or something. It's in very good condition, almost as good as new. I never could tell the difference between the hit of the Z2 and this shaft. I would think that somebody thinking about buying a new Z2 or OB2 would have to consider paying less than HALF as much for this shaft, and getting a Sniper tip to boot.

So, what is it then? The economy? Do people actually think that because Predator came out with the Z2 that this shaft is obsolete? What opinion might you have as to why there are NO replies to this sale. Thanks.

I think that is exactly what the deal is. To the people chasing the latest and greatest nothing is less interesting than yesterday's newest toy. Some of us are quite happy with whatever we pick up, I've been happily playing with house cues lately. Some are chasing the latest and greatest. Your shaft doesn't appeal to either group. There are a few people that can't afford "the latest and greatest" that will buy it when it gets cheap enough for them. Not saying it is the fair value but I've seen those sell for fifty bucks locally.

I bought the best circle track racing equipment I could find. When I found better I gave away(literally, no charge) the old stuff which was far better than what many people had. Just the way things are.

I wonder if it is the uni-loc joint, I personally don't know anyone who uses that joint on their cues. It might be popular just not with the people I know.

This has a lot to do with it, however, I think a lot of people chase those numbers associated with the low deflection with more ferver than is probably useful for them. So, if I remember Preditors advertizing for the Z2, they indicate it has 32% less deflection that the (already rediculously low deflection numbers of the) previous Z(1).

Do I remember correctly that the Z was made in America and the Z2 in China? Or have I killed off too many brani cells of late?
 
Right now it might just be a dead market,times are tough all over,heck bout 2 years ago I was thinking bout getting one (z) but times started getting rough and I just said heck with it I'll hold on to my 1st gen pred.But I am still planning on getting a Z,so with any luck maybe I'll take one off your hands.
 
It sounds plausible that it's as Hu says... people think that shaft is old technology even though it's great.

A true marketing guy would find a way to imply (i.e. lie) that the Z1 had special hit or feel that went away with the Z2, and now people are clamoring for the original better hit of the Z1 and wishing they hadn't traded in for Z2. Or you could claim as predator got bigger, their quality control went south because they started turning out so much shafts, and the earliest predators had superior workmanship. You can also try claiming the Z1 is sort of becoming an increasingly rare collector's item for people who want only the best, purest hit in a LD shaft... so 100 bucks is a bargain for a shaft that is no longer being made.

Any one of these fabrications should get that shaft moving in no time :)
 
Nothing wrong with a first generation Z. Thats what I run and its a great price. If it wasn't a Uni Loc I would have swooped in on it.
