Will Earl be on the 2011 Mosconi Cup Team?

It appears that Earl is playing the BCA points tournament again and his current ranking has him positioned to be invited to the Worlds and possibly the Mosconi. He would certainly add to the Mosconi excitement if he makes the team !!

Earl is one of the best players in the world but he isn't a team player

If the other guys like Johnney don't want to play with him, then he shouldn't be on the team

He can take the popularity contest out of it if he stays at the top of the money board. If he is on top he earned it and others will have to learn the true definition of team.

I certainly wish Earl the best. He is in top form again and Team USA can benefit from that. Johnny will have to live with it, its not what Johnny wants, its whats best for the team. I have the utmost respect for JA so not trying to dis him.

If the rules are that the top X number of players on a points list are the people that are supposed to get the automatic invites to the event then that should be the way it is. They cannot give the top 3 players on the points list the automatic invites each year and then suddenly change the rules when someone else gets in that they might not want.

Matchroom had no problem "not" letting Earl on the team and claiming that Earls low standing on the points list was the reason he was not in the voting for the last player in 2009. Now they up and change the rules if Earl qualifies via the BCA points? That would be simply wrong.

And the reality is if Earl is shooting good enough to make the required points to make the team then he is in a far better spot mentally then he has been in the past long while and he is likely to not be quite so emotional and reactionary in the event as in the past.

I know that Earl and JA have played on the team before, but I didn't know they had a falling out. Anyone have a link or a sidestory to explain why?

I've heard that Johnny has said he won't play with Earl but if it came down to paying the mortgage and feeding the fam or quitting the team I think Johnny would let bygones be bygones.

Earl is my favorite player and I would love to see him on the Mosconi Team next year representing the USA. But, let's follow the rules and go by the top players on the list. If he makes the cut - GREAT. If he doesn't , well I'll be disappointed but I'll still root for Team USA. Once these players make the team, then they should set aside any bad will/feelings and work together to make a team that the USA will be proud of. A team isn't made up of prima dona's - it's working together to accomplish a common goal. Regardless of who wins the cup, it's how the game is played and the attitude of the players that's important.

He's got a long way to go! One tournament won't get him there. He needs to play and do well all year!

He certainly does have a long year ahead of him, but he is currently ahead of Shane on the BCA points list. Thats pretty impressive !!

It's the top 2 in the BCA points that quailfy automatically.

You have play, win or lose, as a Team and IMHO there is no logical reason to pick Earl to play in a Team Competition. He would appear on the surface at least to be more destructive than constructive in a Team Competition.
