Will someone please go slap whoever is in charge of streaming @ galveston

I tried to see what I could do about it, but got shot down.... But look on the brightside- next year maybe they can get TAR or Bigtruck (who offered to help) to handle the festivities.
But for the record, the matches with Busty and Hillbilly were a good thing to see.......

Professional pool is still "performance art" for the most part. You have to be there to see it. There were so many good match-ups in the second round of the One Pocket. All these great players going head to head. It was hard for the fans who were there to decide which match to watch. I wish every one of them could be recorded. You can say what you want about this event, but it's as good a One Pocket Field as I've seen in years.

All the big guns are here. I know DCC attracts hundreds of players, but there are more top players per square inch then you'll ever see anywhere. Someone will have to play great pool to win this one. In the end this tourney will be remembered as a very important One Pocket event because of the strength of the field. I suspect the Ten Ball event will be much the same. This is a different kind of event than DCC, with a totally different feel to it. But it could turn out to be something really big in the pool world, if the promoters can "stay the course." God, I never thought I would ever use a Bush quote.

I've run into players here that I haven't seen in years from all over the country!
California is well represented, obviously, the south, the north, the east..... And beyond!
You're right Jay, I was trying to watch Oscar, Silver, SVB, and Efren at the same time, while Busty and Hillbilly were playing behind me...Allison, and some of the other top Women players a few tables down.....
Does life GET any better than this?
And looking over the matchups for tomorrow is promising some incredible games as well.
See ya tomorrow!

OK here goes

I will probably will not win any favor by saying so BUT give em a little
grace . I think they had to re do alot after not having hot ticket or however
that worked out. Theres alot that goes into doing a good show of streaming
an event ....I've done my share and have had alot of good ones and a couple
flops. Last week for instance we checked the internet speed at least 4 times
before I made the trip to Tampa and when I got there the internet was like
a roller coaster ,so now I have to restream the matches I got in better quality.
Stuff happens ,I have been around video equipment and computers for a
LONG time and it can be very stressful trying to please the human eyes .Once
I was doing a alignment on a 80" mitsubishi tv and I worked in the guys living
room for 4 hours trying to get it the way I thought it should look ,he walks in
and I am no where near done , smiles and says "Matt it never looked better
since I bought it !!" I put my tools up ,collected the bill and went home:grin:

Honestly... They didn't have to stream be happy they are making an attempt IMO. They could charge us to watch this event, and they are not! It's free, are you that upset about it? Offer to do it next time then IMO. They are doing what they can with short notice. Yes I am very unhappy with the streaming and it could be a hell of a lot better, but they are atleast trying. They cancelled the people that were suppose to be doing the cameras and recording of the event I heard no idea why. I am sure they also have a lot of other things to do as well rather then worry about the free streaming.

But really, I'm happy we can watch what we can. So what if it looks like Cloverfield!

right on the point!!

I'm surprised that the quality of stream is bad, but VERY glad they are doing it so i can watch.
It's such a big event and people are putting lots effort make it happen, it's happening and we should be happy.

The main issue here is like 1 inch on the tv screen. If they would center the camera 1 inch the two corner pockets could be seen.

This is pathetic... how can you possibly put something like that up on the internet when it is supposed to be a huge event. All they have to do is setup one decent camera to still that shows the entire table. Please someone who knows what they are doing, walk over to the streaming table, slap whoever is in charge of it and fix it!

I'll apologize in advance if you are among those who funded this event or its internet streaming or if the price you are paying for this streaming exceeds the value you feel you are getting. f either of those is the case, you have every right to be upset.

If, on the other hand, you are somebody who has contributed nothing to this event and are not paying for this stream, then you are pathetic, and I must wonder where you get your sense of entitlement. The entrepreneurs who have conceived and managed this event deserve better than your written tirade, and hopefully, they won't be discouraged about further entrepreneurship in our sport when they read your extremely unrefined post and learn how little they are appreciated in the pool playing world.

We are missing some of the greatest players in the world because we are puking our guts out watching this.

No, we are missing them because we did not attend the event. Your post is in danger of making me puke my guts out.

I know some of the stream has been bad but Idid get to watch the Hillbilly and then the Sylver events and they were ok not the best but ok. I am going to be there on wed or thurs, and I hope this event will grow and become what it should be one of the best there is.
Patience will advance the cause, Give them a break and maybe next year they can give Big Truck or TAR a chance and see the difference.
JUST My 2 After not being around pool for so long I am happy to see this being streamed even if it is not the best

Oddly enough, those who watched the Parica vs Efren one pocket easily could have been puking before you. The video literally was evoking motion sickness. If you watched it, I no doubt believe that you would have also added your displeasure at the video quality, free or otherwise.

It was atrocious Stu. No quesiton about it. Fans complain because they want something to cheer for. I think the complaints were heard, as the next match was much better.

The venom can be subdued, but the criticism should not. Without feedback, there can be no improvement. And it clearly needed improvement. Surely you agree with that. Continued Cloverfield-style pool broadcast could be devastating to the relatively new venture of online streaming.

Stu,

You have a way of cutting to the quick! Well said.

It wasn't too long ago that we would have to wait until someone wrote a story or posted on a message board about an event. Now we have live coverage with interaction!

I don't know what happened with Hot Ticket, but It certainly appears JR and the others involved made an effort to bring us coverage anyway. It takes a considerable amount of trial and error to get the production looking better and it sounds like they improved dramatically in only a few hours!

I will certainly be logged on today appreciating the free coverage.

I do agree with Fred too! I think some folks could be more tactful, but It's still the feedback that helps us improve rapidly.

Jose' vs Efren 1-Pocket Galveston

This is the video that people are talking about. I wouldn't want people to think that the majority of complaints stemmed from some of the other matches that were better (but definitely could stand to improve).

Be warned: If you're prone to motion sickness, you might want to take a pass.

Fred

I think a large part of the anger stems from the fact that the Promoters while putting this event together, generally speaking, ignored offers of help or any input from those experienced in the various intricasies of putting on an event. Then the very first thing we fans see is this horrible production where the players' pockets are not even in the picture!!

Free or not, the criticism is deserved imho.

I just looked at the Stream, I see an out of Focus Stream with Ghost IMAGES, ill go back to the TV, as it Football time

For those of you wondering why Hot Ticket was let go, the story I heard was that they were unwilling to give the rights of the coverage to the World Classic producers. The World Classic producers decided it was best that they kept the rights to their event, so they parted ways with Hot Ticket.

Be thankful and support galveston tourney !

I just returned from Galveston - what a tournament !! I will be returning later in the week. Jay hit it right on the nose - more top players per square inch than DCC. The whole venue is first class, Main Tourn area, bleachers, amatuer and team tables, great first class site(Moody Gardens). The Roan brothers deserve the pool world's respect for putting this premier event on and wish them success in the future. The minor bugs will be worked out and by the finals everyone should be well satisfied. I can't wait to get back down to Galveston Next Thursday and watch the finals.
