Awesome post! How do you come by this cool stuff? I see lots of great pics and scans in your posts. Also what do the characters in your sig mean?

Great Photos

They are great photos, especially the one from the Hustler.
I am looking for a photo about the size that you posted and maybe your the man that can come up with one. It is a blk/white of one of the Honeymooners Show's. A photo of Ralph & Norton in the pool hall from the 'Bensonhurst Bomber"
Someone had a photo by their login name but it was too small to enlarge.
Please Help.

I think it was 1964 or 1965 a poolroom in Toms River N.J opened up with all Brunswick tables. At that time if you bought Brunswicks you got Willie to play a match and do some trick shots. The owner asked me to play Willie and i did. Now at this time i was a 40 ball run or so straight pool player.
I was nervous as hell (only 17 years old)I don't remember the exact details but he made a few balls - some safes i made a few- some safes then he ran 85 and out of the most perfect balls i had ever seen.
At that time i had seen all the top players of that era and none had impressed me more. Here is a funny sidenote. There was a women watching and she said "he's not that good he never shot a hard shot" True story he never shot anything over 18 inches or so. Wish i was "not that good"
Someone mentioned "clay balls' in a post. I Learned how to play straight pool with them. You had to slam your break shot to open them up.It was very helpfull if you had a good force follow stroke.

Wow!! Awesome collection! I thought I had a nice memorabilia collection, but mine is nothing compared to what you have.

Most of this stuff is on the internet. Internet search engines are a good thing to learn how to use.

I just search the nooks and crannies of the internet.

Library, college, museum and government archives are loaded with all sorts of hidden gems.

good stuff right there! I have a video of my wife at 19 years old beating Willie in a game of 9 ball :) He signed her case too!

Is it me?, or does Willies cue in the 2nd pic look like it had a funny taper in the wrap section behind his hand?

I hadn't noticed that (good eyes!), but I think you're right. I wonder if Willie liked a rear-balanced cue? That would seem odd given his forward grip position...which already gives a more rearward "balance". Maybe he favored a thin wrap over any balance consequences.
