i must be your friend. my name is william jones and i'm from elizabeth city. who are you?

Junior... ha, this is Brandon Pureza. I was just telling Chad I wanted to drive down to the beach this summer and take some pics of that cue. Did you know the old poolroom closed down? I think someone else might take it over but it'll never be the same anymore... You still playing with that Josey?

Well guys, I can vouch for racer55... THIS CUE IS THE REAL DEAL.

He states in his first post...

"Authentication documents and pictures available for serious buyer. Asking $60,000."

I would love to see pix of this cue myself, but I am seriously NOT a player at $60k. I do understand his reluctance to post pix.

Where is Fatboy?

Joe

If you want to email me pics at ontherail@live.com I will put your name going across the cue or whatever you want it to say so the pictures cant be stolen and used on Ebay or wherever. :)

hey brandon. haven't seen you for awhile. i've pretty much quit playing pool. at least for awhile. you should come down and see the cue, although i think everyone expects this cue to look very special, it actually is a very plain balabushka, not that much too look at. obviously the reason it is special is because it was wimpy's. i really think most of the guys asking about it would be disapointed with how plain the cue is.

did you ever get the new cue you ordered?

ahhhh, a reunion on the net. How sweet. This IS funny now, I've actually ran into friends unknowingly on the net too. The phrase 'small world' is dead on for these situations!

at 60k, fatboy would prob be the only one who would buy this cue.

hey he could trade one of his lamborgini's for it :D

I actually don't think anyone expects it to be too fancy, as most Balabushka's were just plain old 4-pointers anyway... The most important things are probably the fact that it's only had 2 owners in the past 30-40 years or so and that one of them was Wimpy... the other things being condition and the fact that everything is original to the cue...

I get my Ginacue in about a week and I'll be at the beach probably every other weekend this summer so I'll definitely come check it out. I'll bring my cue with me so we can compare a little cue evolution over the past 40 years haha. I still have your number in my phone so I'll give you a call.

i say its a scam, tryin to sell behind the forum fron thats why no pictures ! just a hunch!

scam or not, 60k is a lot of money for a cue.

i just remembered, joe rogan posts on the fourms, he might have the scratch for it

Well, it probably wouldn't be the first time you were wrong... Do you think this cue would sell without authentication or the buyer not seeing it in person first? I know the seller and I'm well known on this forum and in pool circles... The guy who owns it was a good friend of Wimpy's and from his hometown as am I. Believe me he has better things to do than waste his and other people's time... and so do I.

Thanks, Brandon Pureza

LOL. When I saw the first post I was like "Hmmmm....first post ever and it is to announce a $60K cue. Righhhhhht."

This place has made me cynical. :D

If you end up taking pics of it Brandon and the owner doesnt mind I would love to put up a gallery on TAR for the cue. I would be very interested to see what you could do with the photos.

That is a more than a cue it is a piece of history. Hopefully whoever ends up with it will share it. I would say the number of potential buyers can probably be counted on 2 hands but I can think of 5 or 6 on this board who could if they wanted to.

Ha... made you cynical? Why do you think I made this post in the beginning?

I know only of one Balabushka owned by Wimpy... it has his signature (I think on the forearm) and it's owned by one of my friends from his hometown of Elizabeth City who was also close friend of Wimpy's.

I wouldn't mind knowing how, when, and where you got the cue... just out of curiosity. A cool story to go along with the cue perhaps.

p.s. pics would help too.

As it turns out I was talking to the same guy I was referring to. I was unaware that anyone from Elizabeth City posted on this forum... and for someone to have Wimpy's cue like that, they would more than likely have had to be one of his friends. A lot of the guys from Colonial Billiards have Wimpy's old stuff.... My friend Rob has a set of joint protectors with Wimpy's initials etched in them, Charles has an old Mcdermott with his signature, Norman has almost the same Mcdermott with a signature as well... the list goes on and on but Junior is the one with the Golden Egg... I've known he's had Wimpy's old Balabushka for a few years now but I've never shot down to the beach to give it a look.... I'm going to have to do that soon, maybe within a week or two and I'll get back with you guys on it.

I will definitely take pics of it if he wants me to but that's up to him and it would be understandable if he wanted to keep it to himself... Don't expect anything too great though.. I don't know if you remember me telling you that I sold all my equipment a while back but I might just borrow my brother's Nikon D40... it's not the 5D I used to have but it should get the job done haha.

I was thinking the guy was ruffling feathers until Brandon knew the guy right off the bat. I would LOVE to see pics of this cue plain or not, its a piece of history in the cue world. You have one helluva piece there at home, atleast let the rest of us poor guys drool over it!

I've only seen one other cue of Wimpy's that was made by a legendary cue maker and that was a Ginacue that used to be on the classicues.com website I believe... I asked how much they wanted for it but I was told it was not for sale or from a private collection or something like that....

edit: actually this is what was said, I went through my posts and found it:

That cue sold back in 1996 or so. It's just an archive.

I am sure whatever you come up with would be great. I am still on the look out for that Macro lens. I am thinking 105/2.8 but may go with the 60/2.8 depends on how many Alex/Shane sets we sell :D

Funny you mention that Gina Brandon, I saw it in Ernie's shop day before yesterday! It is owned by a LARGE collector and Ernie is doing a little work on it...it and the collector are amazing, he also had a Gina of Irving Crane's among other impressive items.

If they were at MY house, I woulda...but "what happens at Ernie's stays at Ernies"......:)

Seriously, I see some AMAZING stuff at his shop, but if they aren't mine, I'll let the owners decide who sees them.

Joe

The old Gina we saw at Ernie's the other day is not the cue Brandon is talking about. Brandon is referring to an old Gina that was owned by Wimpy that is a dead ringer for your brother's first old Gina. There used to be pictures of it at ClassicCue's web site, I guess they got sick of people asking for a price (which I also did) and took it down.
