Thanks JB. Thank you for your show of generosity. I would be posting pics and a review of your first Flowers style case which came in rather quickly, but it went to my other address - my fault in too much of a rush to reserve my spot.

Because I remember...

I remember when I was seven begging my parents for more quarters at Gruene Hall in South Texas, so I could play more pool on the shotty beat up bar box they had.

I remember when I was twelve playing with my older cousin, for hours at a time with the music blasting in the background; I could never beat him at first but the more we would play, I would sneak in more and more wins. He is in the Air Force now somewhere in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife and two kids... at 23 years old! ...I don't get a chance to see him too ofter any more and I miss him.

I remember when I was seventeen playing with my dad, talking about how the Dallas Cowboys had a chance this year and how Mack Brown should run for president. Now that I've moved out I don't see him as much but we still talk just about every day.

I remember my first month of college, I didn't know anyone and I stumbled across the pool club playing and they invited my to join them; some of my first friends at such a new place...some of my best friends still.

I remember how happy I was when my TAP League teammate made the winning eight ball to win the TAP National Qualifier that we will be attending in November. I still remember the shocked look on his face as we double-dipped our opponents to get the title.

...I often forget why I play and sometimes forget to have fun with it, but these are the real reasons why I play. The great people I have met along the way and the close friends and family that I have grown closer to because of pool.

Aside from this contest, thank you for just giving me a chance to reflect and remember why I play...that alone has made my day!!!

Dang it! Now I have to buy a case from John. And I'm looking forward to it! In fact, I just did :D

John, thanks for the great contest and your generosity. And congrats to all the deserving winners.

Congrats to the king! I really liked your post. If it couldn't be me, I am glad it was you. Enjoy the awesome case.

Thanks JB for this generous contest! I enjoyed it.

How to claim your prizes

The Grand Prize winner is The King.

You get to choose a J.Flowers case in any size and color, with your name tooled onto the back if you like. There are two design patterns to choose from - the flower design shown below on top or the cigar design shown below.

JF3.JPG

You can also choose to have the Ultra-Padded interior or the Tube Style.

Please see this thread for instructions:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=114362

The winner of the random draw is Cocobolo Cowboy. Quite fitting as he is arguably a huge cue case fan in general.

Cocobolo Cowboy, you get to own the first ever 1x2 J.Flowers case that we make. As above you can choose the color, pattern and whether it should be tooled with your name or not. You can also choose the interior, tubes or Ultra Padded.

These are the cases that the runners up have to choose from:

These cases are part of a new line that we debuted at the BCA trade show in June. They enjoyed a great reaction there and now they are about to hit the market in time for Christmas.

These are original John Barton design. These cases were a year in the making starting with more than 8 months of development time on the interior alone. Each one has the JB Organic Rebound interior that I have been delivering on JB Cases for several months now. I thought it fitting to show off the newest design and what has taken a year to create alongside my tribute to Jay Flowers.

I hope that you like them.

You can choose any of the three sizes listed.

Again the runners up are as follows;

ridewiththewind
AnitoKid
IBA7467
billyjack
sfleinen

Colors to choose from - from left to right:
Black/Brown Tooled - Black/Orange Nylon - Grey/Green Nubuk - Brown Nubuk/Brown Crocodile

Please see the gallery pictures to see the back sides.

Sterling Wave Cases

Sizes to choose from - 2x3 - 2x4/3x4 - 4x8

2BUTTS_3SHAFTS_INTERIOR.jpg

3BUTTS_4SHAFTS_INTERIOR.jpg

4BUTTS_8SHAFTS_INTERIOR.jpg

So, please choose your case and give me your address. The case will be delivered as soon as they reach the USA. With the exception of Anito Kid, yours I will send from China to you directly.

For those interested in such things, the value of the prizes is as follows;

The King's case is worth $250-$450 depending on what he chooses.
Cocobolo Cowboy's case is worth about $250-$300 depending the options he chooses.

The Wave cases given to the runner up winners are worth $125-$150 depending on the size chosen.

How the winners were chosen: I recruited my friends and family who have nothing to do with pool to read the entries and vote on them. After we tallied the votes and argued a little we reached a consensus and that's how it went. I was going to recruit my friends on AZ but several of them joined the contest so it was a conflict of interest.

Lastly, I have decided also to give a Wave Case to the AZ Pro Player fund to be sold or auctioned.

Once again thank you for playing. Got to get busy on all these free cases :-)

(p.s. gotta throw in the advertisement - if you are a dealer and are interested in carrying Sterling's new lines of cue cases - over 60 new models and designs, then please contact them at www.sterling-gaming.com or 877-283-7444)

Hi John!

I absolutely adore the 4x8 Black/Brown Tooled!
And I kid you not!

I just sent you a PM with my contact info.
Again, thank you very much!

*And more thank you's to your friends and family members
who served as the judges! Thank you very much, friends!

I play pool because I am fat, short, and not the most attractive man in the world and it was a great way to meet ladies. I was quite suprised to see how many girls in my area bars would watch the pool games. So, I started playing and got good enough to teach them a few things (and show off) and that got me, the average person into the limelight on an even playing field with the jocks of society. I would never play sports, nor be a famous singer, but I could make those balls dance! And that is why I got into pool.

Love the design on the new line of cases, John! Of course, I am having a difficult time picking one. :sorry: I like #1, especially with the motif in the leather. However, I am also drawn to #2...there is no way that case is going anywhere without someone seeing it, even in a crowded pool room! I'm doomed. :help:

#2 is the action getter case, you walk in with that and your marked!

Poolpro thank you for the kind words I'm certainly glad I did not have to judge this contest. I have plenty of cues but not near enough cases so this does come in handy no doubt. Not to long ago I gave away a new cue here on AZ and did this same thing as I have new cues just setting in a rack due to no cases to put them in. I did not have near as many entries but picking the best essay was very hard I even enlisted some friends to help. In the end I feel I picked the right one and someone that could not afford a new cue got a nice Viking cue. But I can't tell you how hard it was to pick the winner. Mr Barton and family had to have a very tough time of it. They had alot more entries to judge and all of them are well written and very good. I've read through the thread many times and enjoyed it each time. Thanks to everyone that wrote in because your words mean alot to me also and are certainly inspiring.

Again thanks poolpro for the kind words and thank you Mr. Barton for a nice case I assure you it is certainly needed .

I want to publicly express my thanks to John Barton for being chosen as one of the recepients of his new cases. There have been many posts in the past of those who profit from our game, and don't put anything back into the game or the pool community. You certainly can't say that about John. When he develops a new product, some of the first items produced go into the hands of the enthusiasts in this forum. No obligation, no strings attached. All he hopes for are honest evaluations, and good word-of-mouth advertising, the most reliable form of advertising that exists. Thanks again John, and congrats to all the other recepients. Best wishes for continued success!
