Win or lose, Mark Wilson has pulled together a good Team USA!

Point of the thread is to give kudos to the Mark Wilson's work with the players on Team USA, not to argue who's on first and who's on second.

IMO, the break is 50 percent of the game, and sometimes you can play perfect pool and still lose because of the luck factor in the rolls.

I'm proud this year of Team USA, win or lose. That's what I'm talking about! :)

Gotta give credit to Mark Wilson and his staff for getting this team prepared. Well done!

Amen. I am thoroughly enjoying the Cup, in every way. Win or lose, we have players representing us with integrity, class and skill.

Great team, thanks to Mark Wilson and staff's hard work.

Ever heard of a pool player getting fined? Well Mark Wilson has brought that type of accountability to the players.

Team USA is on the right track, its only a matter of time - they will win the Mosconi again soon.

But not this year I hope :-)

JAM -

You pooh-poohed me years ago, when I suggested getting the M/C with YOUNG GUNS, and while I am not as smart as the WATCHEZ, I think I deserve the credit saying it early.

I have interviewed all of the "old guard" over the years, and my personal favorite of that generation is Nick Varner, a great player and great representative for our sport.

Skyler should win M/C MVP, win or lose, based on his performance.

I am so proud of Bergman and Skyler, just imagine the pressure.

Everyone worships the ground Mark Wilson walks on on here. There comes a time though when no matter how much respect you have for someone you have to tell them they aren't the right man for the job when they aren't getting the results. If this poor showing continues next year and if I was American I would be wanting a new captain and coach instead of criticizing the players. They aren't in the right frame of mind... That's what the coach is there for.

Pidge - We don't all.

I'm not convinced the coach for an All-Star game has much, if any influence ar all on the outcome of the event.

Many here like to pretend that the U.S. Team is more of a National team, but that's clearly not what the Mosconi Cup is.

We consistly lose because we consistly field the less talented team.

That is the same mentality as the Cleveland Browns. Just fire the guys if they don't win and bring in the new. Meanwhile, they will continue to have one tire in the mud. There is never any unity or cohesion built. Team sprit, et cetera.

Win, lose or draw. I too feel that Mark has brought a real TEAM atmosphere to USA. Good job on the latest point by Corey.. It ain't over!

The difference is the browns play week in week out together. The players were talking about play together as a team a few days a year. A coach for the browns could get a team playing of given 3 years or so to mould the team around how they want them to play. Since team USA only play this event once a year then it could take Mark 10 years or more to create a winning team. By this point his best players could be past it. And I don't see many youth players coming through the ranks.

When I compare it to snooker you have 15 year old's competing at professional events. World class events at that. Europe is in the same boat. Not many Appleton's coming through the ranks.

I like that mark did take a risk on a young player. And it seems to me he is going about it the right way in that sense. Out with the old in with the new keeps competition healthy within a team. I just don't believe he can get inside the players minds and help them in that sense. That is something a top class sports psychologist could do.

He keeps sticking with Shane. He has not proved him self to be worthy at the mosconi. Either the format doesn't suit him or the atmosphere gets to him. If he was European in sure he would have been dropped this year. You can't have a member on your team who has proven to under perform in the event based on hype and other tournament results that are nothing like the mosconi format. Based on this, I don't think mark is the right man for the job.

Deuel, Dechaine, SVB, have all let the team down AGAIN.

So disappointing to see them wilt.

These guys are top level players and though this is a unique format, the erratic play is ridiculous.
