Last 64 are set.

Philippines: 18
Taiwan: 8
Vietnam: 8
USA: 8

A great showing by the Americans to get 8. All 3 Ko brothers are in.

and svb may have the toughest opponent in mickey krause. form-wise at least

philippines is just sick. if i'm gonna call an upset finalist, i go with aj manas. i am rooting for "the martian" hoang, but it wouldn't be as big a surprise (he's been to semi i think, has home turf advantage, also won a decent satellite event in scotland). manas is like 16 yo. and look at how he finished his match against krause...

Billy Thorpe got knocked out by another American, 9-8. The young Landon Hollingsworth. He's either 18 or 19. Fargo in the low 700s, but probably a bit out of date.

Someone to watch to see if he keeps progressing. He beat Kazakis in a close match last year.

Just don't see how Thorpe can get an invite to Mosconi. He hasn't done enough. He should have gotten past Hollingsworth, at one point being up 7-5.

Max Eberle beating Wiktor Zielinski another eye opener.

Saw the AJ Manas-Krause match. One of the best matches of the year. Mickey missed a 5 he should have pocketed. Manas jumped a long 2 in the hill-hill game that Krause passed up on. Big shot. Both players were superb.

Manas is doing what all young players should be doing. Play anyone anywhere. He actually played Krause in a challenge in the Philippines a few weeks ago. Race to 17. Krause won 17-16. Manas also played a challenge vs Gorst in Vietnam last week. Lost again but showed his metal.

Jeremy Jones think Manas will be one of the word's elite within 3-5 years given his relative youth and high skills. I've not heard him speak more highly of any other young Filipino player. Not even Regalario.

Welcome to the Philippines! :)

Manas is good. I was just thinking the same about him after the match with the Viking (which was good fun). If he keeps playing like this he'll be near the top in a couple years.

yes but something must be off with zielinski.. first guy he lost to went 1-2 and out, against nonames.

Watching Mickey's match to get into the last 64 and the look he gave the 9-ball after that fluke like "come on man, you're make everyone mad at me..."
Only for the 9 to go hang in front of a side on the next break. Why can't i get tables like this? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yeah, it's disappointing, for Billy is always a fun player to watch. His 2024 performance in the Matchroom Majors (UK Open, US Open, European Open, World 9-ball, Hanoi Open) has been poor, however, reaching a stage two just once. By comparison, Dominguez came 17th at each of the US Open, UK Open and the World 9-ball and finds himself in Stage 2 at the Hanoi Open.

Performance in the majors is the best clue to how a player rates to perform in the Mosconi, and the case for Billy seems awfully weak right now. Unless good friend Woodward is about to do Billy a big favor, Styer and Dominguez, both reaching Stage 2 at the Hanoi, would seem to have sealed their Mosconi Cup bids.

Just one more day of unstreamed play. DAZN picks this up on Saturday, so I'll get to see the last sixteen duking it out. I'm really looking forward to it.

The last sixteen of any Matchroom major is a who's who of pool, and the Hanoi Open will be no exception. Good luck to all those who have reached Stage 2.
