WNT and WPA. Frazer says…

I see it differently. MR doesn't want to make a bad situation worse and the Fillers don't either. It doesn't make any sense for either party to criticize each other publicly, thereby fueling more animosity and making it harder to repair the damage later on.

Especially due to a problem not caused by the WNT or the Fillers.

Frazer is right not to say anything more than she has. She can't speak for Josh and shouldn't. Ditto for Josh. If I were in his shoes, I'd keep the matter private. There is nothing to be gained for him to come out and bash the WNT.

Sooner or later this dispute will all blow over and the Fillers will resume playing most/all big WNT events.
Agreed. Well said.

I see your logic. My thought as a pool fan is that Joshua Filler is probably one of the top players in the world and to have him missing in major WNT events leaves fans like me upset. And I am 100 percent sure I am not the only one who wonders what's going on.

Someone mentioned that Joshua's other half, Pia, handles his social media. Him not being at either Cup (Mosconi or Reyes) is a huge disappointment, at least for me as a pool fan.

The criptic one-line messages WNT issues leaves people wondering, and then there was a great deal of cyberbullying against Joshua, and I don't even want to touch that topic in this thread. We've all heard both sides.

I just feel the radio silence and the cryptic one-liners are unsettling. His absence on WNT is a huge, huge void, and it is very natural for inquiring minds to wonder. The void is getting larger and larger, by the way, just in my opinion, I guess. I am a Filler fan.

In my opinion, it's high time to give rising stars Labutis and Neuhausen their shots in events like PLP and WPM.

Frazer was a bit elusive on whether points earned would play the same role as usual in selecting players for the PLP and the WPM.

I think both of those events as recently as last year chose 14 of the 16 invitees based on WNT rankings, with two wild cards in each event.

If I had to guess, MR might not go totally by points if they don't want to give invites to the players who skipped Hanoi due to the WPA (Filler, Ouschan, etc).

Whatever the case, I could see Labutis or Patsura getting an invite to one of the events. Neuhausen almost assuredly would get one if Josh doesn't get an invite. Otherwise ...

WNT could skip a young Filipino since Bernie Regalario got an invite to the PLP last year. Maybe AJ Manis will have to wait a year.

Frazer did seem to indicate one invitee could come from the region where the PLP is being held.

The most obvious choice would be Aleksa Pecelj from Serbia. He is 29th on the WNT Rankings. Sanjin Pehlivanovic, ranked 39, is another possible choice since he is from Bosnia. But he played (very well as it turned out) in the PLP two years ago in the UK.

Frazer intimated the WNT would in the long run base invitations to these events mainly on points. But these are uncertain times ...

Not his biggest fan but just going by his age he will go down as one of if not the best rotation player by the time he hangs it up. When he's on his play borders on perfection.
There are tons of players who have been on 2-5 year hot streaks, tons of them. FSR comes to mind, Mickey Krause is beginning one. Eventually they get bored, start families, lose focus, burn out, other things in life become more important. Skyler Woodward is an example of this it seems.

Then there are the players who seem to have a lifelong passion/obsession with the game. Earl, Efren, and Shane come to my mind for these players. Very, very few do both, keep the passion going for decades and play to a top 10 in the world level. Filler isn't there yet in my opinion.

sanjin is in for sure. possibly one more balkan youngster, like pecelj or kledio.

c'mon. it's not a hot streak. he's won just about everything there is to win and he's been going for like 8 years. he's a freak of nature

tend to agree here. say someone won everything there is to win in,say, five yrs and then quit. would they be regarded as one of the best? sure. longevity is a factor but one's record is what counts. i don't see JF quitting anytime soon and his record when done could be just stupid.

To me, longevity is an essential factor when pronouncing that someone is one of the "Best in history". Let's see him win 5 US Opens, for example.

He is going to have to play at his current level for 10-20 years to convince this pool fan of this accolade.
If you know of a pool player in history that had a stronger resume at age 27 than Filler, let me know who it is, but I don't think there is one. He has won almost every major title worth winning. He has already been a top 3 player in the world for at least six years.

I guess the haters will hate, but Filler can retire tomorrow and he's already one of the best ever. If he plays like this for another ten years, a very iffy proposition, he will be the best that ever played the game.

I'm not hating, maybe I just see "Best in history" as a little more subjective than you.

Why should that arbitrary stat be the measure of excellence?

SVB has never won the China Open, World Games, UK Open, American 14.1, and has not won Mosconi MVP, while Filler has won all of these. Further, Josh has probably won over 75% of his matches against Shane in the past seven years. By your logic, we should probably remove SVB from the Hall of Fame because of these holes in his resume.

If you think that titles won in the US are all that matters, it's safe to say that you don't follow the worldwide pool scene.

There will be more open events this year. She was cagey on whether there would be more in the U.S., but her vibe said yes.
I don't think the US is very high on their target market list, nor do I think they are very concerned with growing pool in the US. Why would they? The market is literally dying off.

I didn't say "best in history" but instead "in the conversation for the best in history". And I'm sticking with that statement.

Did the China Open even exist during the majority of SVB's career?
